Ontic is a global supplier and maintenance partner in the aerospace industry that focuses on providing established, certified Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) aircraft parts. It buys product lines from OEMs and then sells those parts and offers related services to major aerospace and defense customers, helping them keep aircraft in service longer. The company’s products are ready-to-use certified components with a lifecycle support model, ensuring parts meet safety and performance standards for ongoing operations. Compared with competitors, Ontic emphasizes owning and managing mature part lines from OEMs rather than developing new components, plus a long history (dating back to 1956) and a network of strategic partnerships that support reliable availability and aftermarket support. Ontic’s goal is to be the dependable source of proven parts and life-cycle services that enable aerospace leaders to sustain fleets and extend aircraft lifetimes.

VIDEO: Ontic's new £11m aviation facility gets lift-off. Colin Cheltenham Times 18 hrs ago Summary. Ontic, a leading supplier to the world's civil and military aircraft, has opened its new state-of-the-art facility in Tewkesbury. The company has invested £11m in the new maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) base at Ashchurch Business Park on the site of a former printing factory, which was officially opened by the Mayor of Tewkesbury, Cllr George Porter, yesterday (Thursday). Details. Around 180 workers are being transitioned to Tewkesbury from Ontic's other Gloucestershire bases in Bishop's Cleeve and Staverton, as well as other sites. Some 250 people, including Ontic's entire MRO UK staff and VIPs, were present at the opening. Punchline-Gloucester.com was also there to cover the opening and editor Mark Owen was given an exclusive tour of the new building. Ontic has grown rapidly over the years from 25 employees in Cheltenham to over 800 across its UK sites, primarily in Gloucestershire. The MRO sector is seeing heightened demand as aircraft manufacturers like Boeing and Airbus face production backlogs, forcing airlines to keep older aircraft in service longer. David Mayne, Ontic's director of MRO Europe, described it as an "awesome day" for Ontic and him personally. "It's been a long journey for the site and the build for me personally," he said."I've been in MRO for 30 years so for Cheltenham Times to be opening an MRO site 30 years later is unbelievable. It's a phenomenal place to be. "Basically we are a component repair shop so the parts which require service or maintenance come to our service centre to be repaired." The new building includes a huge workshop as well as a support area for the finance, sales, marketing and legal teams. A 24/7 "Aircraft On Ground" (AOG) team follows the sun, supported by an office in Singapore, to provide immediate parts and technical support to grounded airlines. "People call the number which is constantly manned and we'll get a shipment replacement part or a loan unit to enable them to be able to continue flying their aircraft," said David. "I'm sure you've been on holiday and been delayed at the airport. That was probably because an aircraft was delayed waiting for a part." David added: "We are still moving people and products into the building. There's another 50 people to come into the workshop. Cheltenham Times can probably get 270 people in here ultimately." Ontic works with some of the world's largest aircraft manufacturers, including Boeing and Airbus, but about 60% of its MRO work is with military aircraft. Ontic has a sizable presence in Gloucestershire. David added: "We have over 72000sq ft here, 70,000 in Bishop's Cleeve and 65,000 in Staverton. We've acquired some additional buildings and premises in Staverton where we are moving our logistics hubs into." The company opened a comparable facility in Miramar, Florida, last year; the Tewkesbury site is the second in its global MRO specialisation strategy. "It's been a long journey for the site and the build for me personally," he said."I've been in MRO for 30 years so for Cheltenham Times to be opening an MRO site 30 years later is unbelievable. It's a phenomenal place to be.

Ontic acquires compass specialist SIRS Navigation. The acquisition of the Kent-based precision magnetic compass manufacturer, adds a trusted brand to Ontic's expansive portfolio of critical aviation components. September 10, 2026 Ontic, producer of critical civil and military aircraft parts, has today announced its acquisition of SIRS Navigation, a business specialising in the design and manufacture of high quality, precision standby magnetic compasses for the global aviation industry. Based in Kent, England, SIRS Navigation has designed, manufactured and supported high-quality magnetic compasses for over 60 years. The company supplies compasses into OEM production lines and provides replacement units directly to operators and distributors across the aftermarket. It also operates a comprehensive 24/7 global product support network to ensure fast resolution of logistical and technical issues for operators worldwide. Its compass designs, originally acquired from GE Aerospace, have been continuously improved in-house, to develop a lightweight, efficient compass that is the global market leader in its field. SIRS Navigation offers custom design capability to meet individual customer and platform requirements. Why the strategic acquisition should ensure continuity. The acquisition of SIRS Navigation reflects Ontic's commitment to investing in specialist aerospace businesses with strong intellectual property and embedded platform presence, ensuring continuity, growth and long-term success for their customers and people. JC Gallagher, Ontic's new CEO said: "SIRS Navigation has built an outstanding reputation over more than half a century - a market-leading position, a loyal customer base and a brand that is trusted across the industry. This acquisition is about providing continuity and long-term commitment to its customers, while giving the business a home where it can continue to thrive. "SIRS Navigation is joining a global business with 10 sites, more than 1,900 employees and decades of experience manufacturing and supporting critical aviation components. This gives SIRS Navigation access to the scale, investment and infrastructure of a much larger aerospace group, without changing what has made the business so successful." Maisie Bylett, Commercial Director, Sirs Navigation said: "This marks an exciting milestone for SIRS Navigation. I am extremely proud of the company history and the accomplishments made as a small company in a challenging sector. Ontic is a strong strategic fit for its business, its people and its customers.
