  • Three to five years of hands-on experience across backend, machine learning engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of Docker and Linux fundamentals.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, and cloud-based deployments.
  • Practical experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines; Azure DevOps is strongly preferred, and GitHub Actions or GitLab CI are also relevant.

  • Develop Model Context Protocol integrations connecting large language models to internal tools and data sources.
  • Build backend services in Python that power machine learning inference and AI-driven product features.
  • Parse and process structured and semi-structured data, including XML/XSD and Office document formats, as pipeline inputs.
  • Develop expertise over time in model optimization, including GGUF quantization, GPU/CUDA tuning, and offline or air-gapped deployments.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for AI services.
  • Deploy AI workloads to Microsoft Azure and AWS, and containerize services with Docker.
  • Automate operational tasks with Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell scripting.
  • Troubleshoot across the technology stack and investigate root causes.
  • Support event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka producers and consumers.
  • Work with engineering and product teams to take large language model-powered features from prototype to reliably deployed systems.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation concepts, including vector databases, embeddings, and chunking strategies.
  • Advanced Model Context Protocol knowledge.
  • Kubernetes knowledge, including kubectl basics.
  • Infrastructure as code experience with Terraform.
  • Apache Kafka fundamentals, including producer and consumer patterns.
  • Experience with a systems language such as Go, Rust, C++, or Zig.
  • Deeper llama.cpp experience, including building and quantizing models.
  • Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana, and site reliability engineering practices.
  • Exposure to security and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, and Zero Trust.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and secure pipeline design.
  • Experience deploying Kotlin or other JVM-based applications.

What believers are saying

  • PlugStar adoption improved for thousands of EV shoppers after the Feb. 2026 launch.
  • Proteus and PlugStar target regulated, mission-critical niches with harder procurement and stickier renewals.
  • Guadalajara nearshoring and broad hiring improve delivery capacity without heavy US payroll expansion.

What critics are saying

  • Custom development is easily commoditized by Accenture, Globant, and freelance nearshore teams.
  • One-off client projects create revenue volatility when PlugStar-style engagements end in 2026.
  • If embedded and EV pipeline weakens, Salvo becomes a replaceable staff-augmentation shop.

What makes Salvo Software unique

  • Feb. 2026 PlugStar showed Salvo shipping complex API platforms for EV infrastructure.
  • Aug. 2025 Proteus work proves embedded firmware capability, not just generic web consulting.
  • Aug. 2026 hiring spans OTX, ODX, and embedded engineers across Vancouver and Guadalajara.
