Requirements
  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
  • Eligibility for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association.
Responsibilities
  • Provide full-scope care to Inverness County as part of a rural generalist physician team.
  • Share coverage of the Community Health Centre, Emergency Room, 32-bed inpatient unit, and long-term care facility.
  • Provide hospitalist care for patients admitted to the 32-bed inpatient unit, including morning rounds and daytime phone coverage.
  • Provide 24/7 year-round Emergency Room coverage through 12-hour solo shifts.
  • Treat triage level 4 and 5 patients during Split Flow/Lower Acuity Emergency Medicine shifts alongside a physician managing higher-acuity cases.
Desired Qualifications
  • Provide Palliative Care and General Practice Oncology services if interested.
  • Take Split Flow/Lower Acuity Emergency Medicine shifts in addition to a local family practice.
  • Physicians new to emergency medicine are encouraged to develop skills and comfort in this area.
