SRC develops Gryphon R1810 radar for Northrop Grumman's Raid Hunter drone defence system

SRC has developed its new Gryphon R1810 radar for Northrop Grumman's Raid Hunter air defence system, designed to protect military bases and critical infrastructure from aerial threats including drone swarms. The radar tracks incoming threats and intercepting munitions, supporting precision fire control throughout engagements. SRC scaled its existing Gryphon radar architecture to create the R1810, progressing from inception to functional prototype in six months. The system can detect Group 1 unmanned aircraft at up to 21.6 kilometres and Group 3 systems at 49.4 kilometres, significantly exceeding the capabilities of its R1540 predecessor. The R1810 uses the same core electronics as SRC's Gryphon R1540 but features eight subarrays per panel instead of four, providing greater detection range and accuracy.

SRC wins $37M US Air Force contract for next-gen aircraft survivability system

SRC Inc has been awarded a $37 million contract from the US Air Force Life Cycle Management Center to develop the Large Aircraft Survivability System (LASS). The contract supports development and integration of SRC's Ghost Mantis Gen 3 Multi-Function Aperture technology for LASS prototype evaluations. The Syracuse-based not-for-profit defence research company will provide advanced airborne sensing capability designed to detect and track long-range missile threats for the Air Force's Mobility Air Force and other high-value aircraft. The system aims to deliver long-range sensitivity and robust performance in contested operating environments. SRC's proposed prototype utilises Ghost Mantis Gen 3 technology, which provides multi-mission search, tracking and electromagnetic spectrum support through a single aperture. The solution also includes SRC's Agile Condor high-performance airborne processor for onboard processing capabilities.

Air-surveillance radars ordered for ground-based UAS sense-and-avoid system.

Air-surveillance radars ordered for ground-based UAS sense-and-avoid system. September 30, 2026 Technology Editor Military Embedded Systems SYRACUSE, New York. SRC received an order from General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI) for two AN/TPQ-49A radar systems configured with air-surveillance software for use in a ground-based sense-and-avoid (GBSAA) system supporting uncrewed aircraft testing, the company announced in a statement. The radars will be deployed at GA-ASI flight-operations sites in El Mirage and Gray Butte, California, to detect and track cooperative and non-cooperative aircraft operating near uncrewed aircraft system (UAS) test areas. Delivery is expected by the end of October 2026, according to the statement. The ground-based sensors are intended to provide airspace awareness for beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) UAS operations without requiring an airborne radar on the uncrewed aircraft. SRC says the Q49A provides three-dimensional target-position data, operates remotely over an Internet Protocol network, and sends detection data to a central fusion processor. Defense PR case study | SRC, Inc.

Defense PR case study | SRC, Inc. By Virgo PR Editorial Breaking through in defense: how Virgo elevated SRC's visibility. The problem. SRC, Inc. develops highly specialized technologies spanning radar, electronic warfare, counter-UAS, surveillance, artificial intelligence and other defense applications. With a broad and technically complex portfolio, SRC needed to consistently communicate the significance of its work to defense, military and technology audiences. Virgo's objective was to strengthen SRC's visibility and credibility within the defense technology landscape while positioning the company and its leadership as trusted voices on the technologies shaping modern warfare. The program needed to extend beyond company news and contract announcements to connect SRC's expertise with larger industry conversations. What Virgo did. Aligned corporate messaging across the organization. Virgo worked with SRC to establish a clear messaging framework that aligned corporate positioning, technology narratives and key talking points across the organization. The framework provided teams with consistent, accurate and media-ready language, helping ensure SRC communicated a cohesive story regardless of the spokesperson, technology or media opportunity. Built a targeted defense media program. Virgo developed relationships with reporters and publications covering defense technology, electronic warfare, radar, counter-UAS, military systems and emerging technologies. Outreach was tailored to the specific technology and audience surrounding each SRC announcement. Created a consistent news cadence. Virgo identified and promoted opportunities around technology developments, contracts, partnerships, product milestones and company news. This created a steady stream of reasons for media to cover SRC rather than relying on a single annual announcement cycle. Turned complex technology into compelling media stories. Virgo helped translate highly technical developments into stories tied to larger defense priorities. Coverage spanned SRC's Ghost Mantis electronic warfare technology, Gryphon and SR Hawk radar systems, LIDS counter-UAS technology, AI and embedded computing, international deployments and more. Expanded SRC beyond product announcements. Virgo pursued opportunities for SRC executives and subject matter experts to participate in broader industry conversations through interviews, expert commentary and thought leadership. This helped position SRC as a source of expertise and not simply a company announcing its latest contract or product. The results. * 160+ media hits and mentions spanning defense, military, aerospace, radar, electronic warfare and technology media. * 83 media hits across 38 unique outlets during the first year of engagement, generating a combined estimated reach of 122.1 million. * Coverage expanded across SRC's diverse technology portfolio, including Ghost Mantis, Gryphon, SR Hawk, LIDS, AI/ML, embedded computing and electronic warfare. * Secured coverage in high-value defense and technology publications including Breaking Defense, Defense Daily, Military Embedded Systems, Aviation Week, The Defense Post, Armada International and Unmanned Airspace, among others. * Helped generate significant attention around major business and technology milestones, including SRC's deployment of SR Hawk surveillance radars to the southern border, its $1 billion Qatar counter-UAS opportunity, Ghost Mantis developments and new radar capabilities. * Continued momentum into 2026, with coverage around an Air Force embedded computing contract, a new radar patent, SR Hawk orders for Poland and U.S. border surveillance, the MDA SHIELD program, electronic warfare modernization and next-generation Ghost Mantis technology. Coverage highlights. * Defense Daily, CBP Upgrading Mobile Surveillance Systems With Radar From SRC to Improve Border Security * Military Embedded Systems, Ghost Mantis electronic warfare payload displayed by SRC at Sea-Air-Space * POLITICO, FIRST IN MD, DOWN UNDER DEMO * The Defense Post, Syracuse Lands $24M US Contract to Advance Embedded AI for Defense * Aviation Week, The Debrief: Will CCAs Need Defensive Systems? * Straight Arrow News, The warfare potential of SRC's Ghost Mantis: Weapon of the Week Why it worked. SRC's technology is highly specialized, but the impact of that technology is relevant to some of the biggest conversations in defense. Virgo's approach has been to bridge that gap by translating technical developments into timely stories around counter-UAS, electronic warfare, border security, AI, radar modernization and the changing battlefield. Rather than treating each announcement as an isolated media opportunity, Virgo has built a sustained narrative around SRC's role in advancing defense technology. The result is a growing, searchable record of SRC's innovations across the publications and audiences that matter most to the company.
