About the job

Requirements
  • At least 12 years, or equivalent, across product and technology leadership, with evidence of setting strategy, leading teams, and growing relevant business metrics.
  • Experience building and growing direct-to-consumer subscription and traditional ecommerce businesses, including an understanding of the transition from subscription-first to one-time purchase and subscribe-and-save models.
  • Strong familiarity with the modern direct-to-consumer technology stack, including Shopify, and sufficient technical depth to set engineering direction and earn engineers’ trust.
  • Experience owning the intersection of growth, brand, and product and aligning those functions.
  • Experience owning broad commercial outcomes, comparable to a general manager of ecommerce, rather than only a narrow conversion optimization scope.
  • Subscription and Shopify experience are strong signals.
  • Genuine interest in cats and the people who love them.
Responsibilities
  • Define a multi-year vision for the digital product and its underlying platform, and translate it into a roadmap for the team.
  • Decide where to invest, what to build, and how team resourcing and the technology stack should evolve to support the roadmap.
  • Connect decisions to the long-term vision and financial goals of the business, and communicate them clearly to teams.
  • Set the vision and quality bar for the customer-facing digital experience, including onsite experience, paths to purchase and checkout, account and subscription experience, and product surfaces that encourage customers to return.
  • Guide how user experience, merchandising, and onsite flows shape customer behavior, ensuring the shipped experience reflects the brand.
  • Own product and customer-experience metrics tied to revenue, including conversion, average order value, lifetime value, and retention, and be accountable for the influenced topline.
  • Apply a commercial perspective to prioritization and product decisions.
  • Build a shared agenda with Marketing across acquisition, retention, and reactivation.
  • Set technical direction and build an organization that delivers quality and speed.
  • Make build-versus-buy and platform decisions, maintain a healthy technology stack, and focus engineering on business priorities.
  • Attract, develop, and motivate a cross-functional product and engineering organization.
  • Allocate resources effectively and create conditions for the team to do its best work.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bring a bold, well-formed point of view on the customer experience and its future, build organizational conviction, and update the strategy when evidence warrants.
  • Ground strategy in an understanding of customers and use data, testing, and research to sharpen decisions.
  • Think in business outcomes and communicate tradeoffs between long-term experience investments and near-term results, including to the board.
  • Operate at the product-marketing intersection and align growth, brand, and product.
  • Communicate the rationale behind the roadmap clearly to teams and peers, discuss architecture with engineers, and align executive stakeholders.
  • Lead with informed judgment and opinions, validating decisions with data rather than relying exclusively on data-first analysis.

Smalls partners with Supreme Pet to bring Premium Fresh Cat nutrition to Independent Pet Retailers Across the South Central U.S. Partnership Brings Smalls' Premium Fresh Cat Food to Independent Pet Retailers Across Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, and Parts of Tennessee Smalls, the nation's first fresh-food brand created exclusively for cats, is expanding its independent pet-retail footprint through a new distribution partnership with Supreme Pet. The new partnership gives retailers throughout Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, and parts of Tennessee access to Smalls' fast-growing and award-winning portfolio of premium fresh cat food, treats, and feeding essentials, making it easier than ever to bring one of the pet industry's fastest-growing fresh cat brands to store shelves. Since launching in 2017, Smalls has helped redefine the premium cat food category by creating fresh, human-grade nutrition developed exclusively for cats. As consumer demand continues to shift toward premium, minimally processed pet nutrition, Smalls offers independent retailers a differentiated brand that helps drive excitement in the cat category while meeting the growing demand for fresh feeding solutions. Through Supreme Pet's distribution network, retailers will gain access to Smalls' expanding portfolio of fresh-frozen meals, treats, broths, bowls, and feeding accessories, providing merchandising opportunities across multiple purchase occasions while helping stores build stronger engagement with today's premium cat consumer. "Independent pet retailers continue to play an integral role in introducing cat parents to better nutrition," said Brian Oost, Senior Director of Retail at Smalls. "Supreme Pet has built trusted relationships throughout its territory and shares our commitment to bringing innovative, premium cat products to the independent channel. Together, we're making it easier for retailers to offer new and differentiated fresh feeding solutions that will bring in new customers and help grow their business." Smalls will also showcase its expanding cat-first portfolio at SuperZoo 2026, Booth #3112, where retailers can meet the team, learn more about the new Supreme Pet partnership, and explore opportunities to bring Smalls products into their stores. Known for its carefully curated portfolio of premium pet brands, Supreme Pet has long been recognized as the trusted distributor serving independent pet retailers throughout the South Central region. "Retailers are seeing continued demand for premium nutrition and differentiated products that drive customer loyalty," states Doug Marx, Supreme Pet Founder. "Smalls has built a strong reputation as the leader in fresh cat nutrition, and we're excited to bring that opportunity to our retail partners across the region." This partnership further strengthens Smalls' national retail expansion strategy while giving independent pet retailers greater access to one of the industry's leading fresh cat brands through an established regional distributor known for premium product selection and outstanding customer service.
