Requirements
  • A Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an American Psychological Association-accredited program is required.
  • At least three years of clinical experience are required.
  • Clinical experience with behavioral techniques is required.
  • A psychologist license in Pennsylvania is required.
  • CPR certification is required.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients’ needs, abilities, and behavior using evidence-based pre-screening and assessment tools, clinical interviews, and direct observation, and document findings in the electronic medical record.
  • Provide evidence-based psychological treatments addressing adjustment to health changes, chronic illness or injury, mood and anxiety management, pain, coping with prolonged hospitalization or treatment, and health behavior change.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to develop and monitor appropriate treatment plans.
  • Treat individuals and families regarding anxiety, depression, addiction, social and interpersonal disorders, and adjustment to disability.
  • Guide team interventions from a psychological and behavioral perspective.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and other health and medical professionals in patient care.
  • Educate patients, family members, and the multidisciplinary treatment team about patients’ psychological status.
  • Provide individual or family counseling and education for comprehensive rehabilitation unit patients and their families.
  • Provide education to staff and others through co-treatments, chart rounds, and in-service sessions.
  • Communicate clinical impressions and objective information clearly and promptly to relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist patients, families, and the team with discharge planning and follow-up services, including mental health referrals.
  • Provide team leadership for continuity of discharge plans.
  • Document treatment notes in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate group psychological interventions and support groups.
  • Follow emergency procedure policies and understand the role in a disaster or emergency.
  • Follow hospital and network confidentiality policies.
  • Pursue continuing education.
Desired Qualifications
  • A concentration in rehabilitation or health psychology is preferred.
  • Experience with family therapy is desired.
