Requirements
  • Prior experience in ski or snowboard boot fitting, with a minimum of 2–3 years preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of custom boot systems and fitting tools.
  • Familiarity with major boot brands and fit technologies, including BOA, GripWalk, and Liquid Fit.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • A genuine passion for skiing, snowboarding, and mountain culture.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and work cooperatively with associates and customers.
  • Ability to remain standing for up to 5 hours at a time.
  • Ability to move around the store, coach and direct associates, sell to customers, and retrieve merchandise from the stockroom or sales floor.
  • Ability to grab, reach, push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch to retrieve and replenish merchandise.
  • Ability to lift or move merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders to retrieve or move merchandise.
  • Ability to operate a computer, point-of-sale system, keyboards, merchandise scanners, and a mouse.
  • Flexible availability for nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Successful completion of a background check, including verification of prior employment dates.
Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed boot fit assessments, including stance analysis, shell checks, and liner evaluation.
  • Execute custom boot work, including custom insoles, liners, and footbeds; shell stretching, punching, and grinding; and foam injection or vacuum molding systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve customer fit issues with professionalism and clear communication.
  • Provide expert recommendations for new boots or modifications as needed.
  • Maintain an organized boot fitting workspace and tools.
  • Stay current on product knowledge, boot technologies, and fitting techniques.
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience aligned with Backcountry Outlet’s service standards and culture.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the management team and Lead Shop Technician.

  • A minimum of 2–3 years of ski or snowboard boot-fitting experience.
