About the job
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Zero to two years of related experience is required.
- Demonstrate standard computer-based skills.
- Demonstrate effective oral and verbal communication skills.
- If applicable, hold the required level of state license recognized by the governing body of the state (Massachusetts or Ohio).
- If applicable, have completed on-the-job training and/or formal trade school and be familiar with the physics of electrical circuits, electrical principles, and hazards.
- Have basic knowledge of using electrical hand tools and metering equipment.
- Pass the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS/MASS) program to be considered for the position.
- Read meters and record data at specified intervals in appropriate logs and computer systems.
- Immediately report malfunctioning equipment or abnormal meter readings or equipment performance to the senior operator or supervisor and complete the appropriate records.
- Provide mechanical, electrical, and/or instrument and control skills for maintaining mechanical equipment.
- Understand the operational relationships of mechanical and electrical equipment to plant systems.
- Perform troubleshooting and documentation, and assist in resolving problems discovered during the shift.
- Adhere to safety, health, and environmental procedures related to plant operations and maintenance, including Lockout Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety, and personal protective equipment.
- Assist with activities involving clearances in the electronic clearance system.
- Use the Computer Based Maintenance system and other computer-based software applications.
- Gain knowledge of the entire plant cycle and how it functions.
- Satisfactorily complete Tier 1 Job Performance Measures covering basic operations, mechanical, electrical, and instrument and controls skills.
- Continually improve job skills and knowledge.
