About the company

Suno creates AI-generated music from text prompts. It lets users describe a mood, genre, or idea and automatically produces fully produced songs with vocals, instrumentation, and arrangements, without requiring any musical training. The product works by turning user prompts into complete songs using generative AI models, offering a library of styles from pop and rock to ambient and cinematic. What sets Suno apart is its combination of engineering and songwriting culture, a fast-growing platform that supports many musical styles and a broad global user base, and its emphasis on making music creation accessible to non-musicians while delivering a complete song output rather than isolated elements. The company aims to reshape how songs are conceived, produced, and shared and to help more people create music by lowering technical barriers and enabling rapid, iterative experimentation.

AI deepfakes and live music: key takeaways for indie artists.

AI deepfakes and live music: key takeaways for indie artists. AI Deepfakes on the Rise. Sony Music's recent takedown of over 260,000 AI-generated deepfake tracks highlights the growing threat of AI impersonations in the music industry. This number has almost doubled since March, with an average of 20,000 takedown requests per month. For independent artists, this surge in deepfakes underscores the importance of monitoring and protecting their creative work from unauthorized AI replication. Scrutiny of AI music platforms. Italian authorities are investigating Suno's terms of service, raising concerns about potential unfair practices that could disadvantage users. This development is part of a broader trend of increased scrutiny on AI music platforms, which could lead to more regulations and protections for artists in the future. The US Copyright Office has launched a public inquiry into music streaming fraud, particularly its connection to AI-generated music. This inquiry aims to understand the economic impact of streaming fraud and how AI is being used to perpetrate these schemes. Independent artists should stay informed about the findings, as they could influence future policies and protections. Expansion of live music operations. Suno's hiring of Michael Chua from Ticketmaster to lead its live music operations, including Songkick, signals a strategic move to integrate AI with live music experiences. This could open up new opportunities for independent artists to connect with audiences through innovative live events and concert discovery platforms. What this means for you. As an independent artist, it's crucial to be proactive in protecting your work from AI deepfakes and unauthorized use. Stay informed about the latest developments in AI and music regulations, and consider leveraging new platforms and technologies to enhance your live music presence. Suno taps Ticketmaster vet michael Chua to lead its live division, says the team's 'central focus' is 'helping emerging artists'

Suno taps Ticketmaster vet michael Chua to lead its live division, says the team's 'central focus' is 'helping emerging artists' Suno taps Ticketmaster vet michael Chua to lead its live division, says the team's 'central focus' is 'helping emerging artists' dylan smith october 8, 2026. Suno the live music specialist? About one year after acquiring Songkick, the AI upstart has tapped longtime Ticketmaster partnerships exec Michael Chua to lead the concert discovery platform. Cambridge-headquartered Suno made the high-profile hire official today, noting that Chua will be based out of its New York office. Signing on as Songkick GM and VP of live experiences at Suno proper, Chua joins following an 11-year run at Live Nation's Ticketmaster, where he was most recently global VP of business development and strategic partnerships. (Separately, Chua also spent a couple years as a business development director with Live Nation itself, besides briefly advising Songkick back in 2013.) In that role, the higher-up was in his own words responsible for "[b]uilding agentic ticketing" with the likes of OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and Meta. Now, as part of Suno, the professional "will identify new ways to bring artists closer to their fans and help fans discover and connect with their favorite artists," per the company. Time will tell what these ambitious efforts entail for Suno in the long run. But integration appears to be the initial focus; the well-funded AI business is further looking to hire a senior software engineer who'll "[l]ead the technical integration of Songkick into Suno" under Chua. "We're building the first creative entertainment platform, and live music is a pivotal part of that," elaborated Paul Sinclair, Suno's chief music officer. "A central focus of our live experiences team will be helping emerging artists, like those in our Spark program, an incubator program designed to help independent artists bring their music projects to life and more easily create live experiences. "Michael has spent his career at the intersection of tech and live music and I'm excited to build this team with his support," concluded Sinclair, who came aboard Suno in July 2025. As for the bigger-picture significance of all this - meaning the incubator program, the live buildout, planned support for vinyl pressing, a licensing overhaul, and a team featuring a number of industry vets - that Suno is fending off sweeping criticism and multiple lawsuits isn't a secret. Thus far, the initiatives have delivered mixed results - referring to a few highly important partnerships but not the resolution of the non-Warner majors' litigation or much-needed PR victories culminating in a public-sentiment shift. Enter the focus of Suno's latest expansion: education and non-profits. According to a new job posting, the company is bringing on a social impact and education senior manager tasked with spearheading partnerships "that allow Suno to make a meaningful and lasting impact beyond the commercial platform." Among other things, the selected candidate will "[b]uild Suno's university and education strategy from the ground up, targeting institutions, music programs, and ed-tech platforms," according to the text, emphasizing for good measure that the team member must "move with the urgency and creativity that a fast-growing technology company demands."

Suno v6 trained on licensed label music with revenue share.

Suno v6 trained on licensed label music with revenue share. By DRULES AI Suno dropped v6 and immediately rewrote the AI music rulebook. The company confirmed its latest models were trained exclusively on licensed music from Warner Music Group and BMG, with participating artists and songwriters set to receive revenue shares based on Suno subscription income. Licensing deal ends the wild west era. This isn't marketing spin. After years of lawsuits and label saber-rattling, Suno has moved first to legitimize its training data. Reports circulating on X today detail that v6 represents the company's first family of models built solely on properly licensed material. Creators who opt in to the program will earn when their work influences generations. The deal covers both training and ongoing use, creating a direct pipeline from legacy catalogs to AI output. The timing is deliberate. With Udio still navigating its own legal headaches and Google Lyria operating in a more closed ecosystem, Suno is positioning itself as the safe, label-friendly option for professional creators. Early tests shared by power users show v6 delivering stronger genre accuracy, more coherent long-form structure, and fewer of the artifact issues that plagued v5. Vocals especially sound more grounded in real performance data. New album features target Spotify's territory. Simultaneously, Suno launched expanded album tools that let users remix, sample, and extract prompts from any track within a release. The feature turns static AI albums into living, iterable objects. Producers can now pull the exact prompt that generated a hook, tweak it, layer in custom stems, or feed it back into the model. One X thread from a producer with 500k monthly listeners called it "the first real workflow for AI as a production instrument rather than a novelty generator." Industry watchers see this as direct preparation for competing in music consumption itself. By making albums remix-native and prompt-transparent, Suno is building stickiness that streaming platforms lack. Hyper-personalized versions could keep listeners inside the Suno app longer than passive Spotify sessions. Early data points shared in AI music Discords show remix engagement rates triple that of standard generations. What this means for professional creators. For working musicians and producers using these tools, the implications are immediate. First, legal risk drops significantly when using v6 on commercial projects. Second, the revenue share creates a new incentive for established songwriters to contribute stems and catalog entries. Third, the quality jump forces a reevaluation of workflows. Those still chaining multiple v4 or v5 generations can now achieve radio-ready results in fewer iterations. Competitors will feel the pressure. Udio's lack of similar licensing announcements leaves it exposed. Google's Lyria remains enterprise-focused and less accessible for independent creators. Riffusion and Flow Music look increasingly like niche experiments next to Suno's full-stack push. Expect more labels to ink similar deals in the coming weeks as the industry shifts from resistance to participation. The opt-in model also raises interesting questions about data value. Songwriters with distinctive styles or catalog depth now hold leverage. Early movers who license their work could see meaningful checks as Suno scales to millions of paying users. This transforms AI music from perceived threat to collaborative revenue stream. Bottom line: Suno's licensed v6 and revenue-sharing model accelerates the mainstreaming of AI music while giving creators a financial stake in the ecosystem.
