Requirements
  • At least 18 years old and a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Ability to supervise participants and provide positive role modeling through interactions with participants and others associated with the program.
  • Ability to meet program goals and expectations outlined in the Youth Program Policies and Procedures Handbook.
  • Reliability and dependability.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet program staffing and planning needs.
  • Ability to exercise mature judgment and sound decision-making.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
  • Successful completion of a comprehensive background screening, including criminal and sex offender checks.
  • Completion of mandatory Praesidium training and reporting of child-abuse concerns as required.
Responsibilities
  • Assist Site Coordinators and Youth Directors with overall program operation and participant supervision while adhering to program policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Implement curriculum by leading age-developmentally appropriate learning experiences in classroom or group settings and ensuring a safe, nurturing environment.
  • Research and develop new age-appropriate activities while collaborating with others to enhance the overall program.
  • Facilitate programming that invites exploration, promotes positive play, and welcomes children in an all-inclusive environment.
  • Communicate effectively, consistently, and professionally with participants, parents, co-workers, and associated program contacts, including Department of Education and Department of Human Services contacts.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of assigned children and other children in the program.
  • Serve as a role model by relating to participants through respect and understanding, responding sensitively to each child’s needs, and providing guidance toward positive youth development.
  • Maintain accurate participant records and documentation as assigned, following program requirements.
  • Attend general, site, and site-specific staff meetings and training sessions and provide input.
  • Assist in ensuring that site facilities, equipment, and supplies are maintained, organized, and clean.
  • Ensure staff and participants respect facility property and follow applicable rules and expectations.
  • Wear the required nametag and maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance in accordance with the dress code.
  • Exemplify the core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold professional boundaries and share responsibility for preventing child abuse.
