What believers are saying

  • Business demand is growing: Apple reported $109.4 billion revenue in the June 2026 quarter, up 16% year over year.
  • Eligible US employees get learning support: Apple reimburses career-related tuition and runs Apple University classes.
  • Services earn richer margins: Apple reported 75.6% services gross margin in the June 2026 quarter, versus 40.1% for products.

What critics are saying

  • Assembly depends on Asian partners: Apple outsources substantially all final hardware assembly, reducing direct control over production.
  • iPhone concentrates demand risk: the product generated 49.6% of Apple revenue in the June 2026 quarter.
  • Student support shifts take evenings: Apple College Advisors typically work three evening shifts and one weekend shift weekly.

What makes Apple unique

  • Its chips link hardware and software: Apple designs M-series processors and developer frameworks tuned to their unified memory.
  • Stores double as service hubs: Apple combines device sales, Genius Bar technical help and in-person learning sessions.
  • It owns a spatial operating system: Apple Vision Pro runs visionOS, controlled through eyes, hands and voice.

Apple to hold second event in October, with touchscreen MacBook Pro expected on October 28

Apple will hold its second marquee event this month on October 28 in Los Angeles, a rarity for the company. The event carries the tagline "Pro and tell." Apple is expected to unveil its first touchscreen MacBook Pro, plus a new iMac and iPad Mini. Chief executive officer John Ternus has said he wants more frequent product launches. Apple's third-quarter revenue rose 16% to $109.4 billion, and earnings per share rose 29% to $2.02. iPhone sales grew 22% to $54.3 billion. Apple's market value is about $5 trillion, and its stock is up 26% this year.

iPhone Duo waits are 50 days at US carriers versus 102 at Apple, Bank of America says

Buyers of Apple's iPhone Duo foldable may wait far less by ordering through US carriers. A Bank of America note dated October 19 puts the average carrier wait at about 50 days, against 102 days on Apple's own store. The global weighted average wait stands at 82 days. China, Japan, the UK, Germany, France and Australia all show 95 days, pushing delivery to about January 22. Analyst Wamsi Mohan said carrier availability "appears to be much better than Apple's own website," possibly due to varying inventory allocations. Carrier purchases usually tie buyers to that carrier's instalment plan. Wait times for the iPhone 18 Pro are shrinking, falling to eight days globally and four in China. Apple reports September quarter results on November 2.

Apple hits $5T market cap but trades at 40x earnings: buy now or wait for a dip?

Apple is one of the best-performing stocks on US markets, though it trails rivals in artificial intelligence (AI). Its shares are up about 26% this year, giving it a market cap of $5 trillion. Only Nvidia, at around $5.3 trillion, is worth more. The stock trades at close to 40 times trailing earnings, which raises expectations. Apple reports earnings next month, its first under new chief executive officer John Ternus, who took over from Tim Cook at the start of September. Investors will watch demand for the iPhone 18 and the foldable iPhone Duo, which starts at $1,999. Weak demand could trigger a correction. The author advises waiting to buy, as Apple's revenue has grown by less than 6% over the past three fiscal years.

Zuckerberg thanks Apple's new CEO on X, not Threads, for Mac Studios running Meta's AI model

Meta chief executive officer Mark Zuckerberg publicly thanked Apple's new chief executive officer, John Ternus, on October 15 for help running Meta's latest AI model on Apple hardware. He posted on Elon Musk's X, not Meta's own Threads, to tag him. The model, Muse Spark Open, has 816 billion parameters and is free to download. It runs on two or four Mac Studios linked together, each with Apple's M5 Ultra chip. A Mac Studio with that chip starts at $5,499. The thanks mark a thaw. The companies clashed over privacy, and Apple's 2021 tracking changes cut an estimated $10 billion from Meta's 2022 revenue. Neither company has said whether more joint projects are planned.
