Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a behavioral health related field is required.
  • Submit for Agency Affiliation within 30 days of hire.
  • Two years of experience working with psychiatrically impaired populations is preferred.
  • Demonstrate strong engagement and customer service skills, empathy, and the ability to remain calm, professional, and clear headed during escalated situations.
  • Have knowledge and skills in working with individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders.
  • Have knowledge of, or the ability to gain knowledge of, all Washington Administrative Code and Revised Code of Washington requirements for Crisis and Involuntary Treatment Services.
  • Communicate and engage effectively with individuals of varied backgrounds, trauma experiences, cultures, education levels, and socio-economic statuses.
  • Manage 10 to 20 active cases.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, decision-making, problem-solving, and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Have reliable transportation, insurance, an active driver's license, and willingness to use a personal vehicle for work.
  • Provide client services in community settings daily, including residences, congregate living settings, hospitals, shelters, streets, or other community settings; some environments may be unclean or uninhabitable.
  • Drive, traverse distances up to several city blocks and varied terrain, navigate stairs, and frequently enter and exit vehicles.
  • Use a computer daily.
  • Lift 10–20 pounds as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Provide initial and follow-up phone triage, assessment, and de-escalation services for individuals in emotional or behavioral health crises, including those referred for Involuntary Treatment Act services.
  • Provide crisis and hospital diversion services to youth, adults, and families in behavioral health crises and facilitate access to crisis hospital diversion resources.
  • Provide referral services to individuals requesting assistance or third-party referral sources, including community stabilization and diversion services and linkage to a Designated Crisis Responder.
  • Complete risk assessments for suicide and/or homicide risk, and staff assessment results with a supervisor or Clinician II to support the safety of the individual and others.
  • Collaborate with the Mobile Dispatch Unit to ensure case responses meet contract requirements.
  • Bring high-risk cases to a supervisor in a timely manner for immediate and appropriate response assistance.
  • Provide initial and follow-up phone and face-to-face assessments for individuals at risk.
  • Create or further develop recovery plans and ongoing support to promote stabilization plans with the individual's support network.
  • Refer eligible individuals to Trueblood forensic programs as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with clients and their support networks to develop stabilization and safety plans, and review the plans with a Clinician II or supervisor.
  • Complete comprehensive documentation supporting safety plans as indicated.
  • Use knowledge of community resources and access resources to support and address client needs.
  • Follow up on referrals for at-risk and high-risk individuals to ensure stabilization and/or services are obtained.
  • Work a fixed shift when possible; be available to work a different shift if coverage concerns arise.
  • Maintain working relationships with courts, attorneys, providers, police and sheriff's deputies, jail staff, clinical and administrative personnel at inpatient psychiatric facilities throughout the state, other agencies, advocates, consumer groups, and citizens.
  • Participate in peer review, supervision, in-center educational meetings, and administrative meetings as directed.
  • Maintain client records and other required documentation promptly and confidentially, in accordance with agency policies and practices.
  • Assist non-Medicaid individuals with Medicaid access as appropriate.
  • Provide case management and wrap-around services as needed.
  • Assist clients in obtaining basic needs, including emergency housing or shelter, financial assistance, medical services, medications, and other resources that support stability in the community.
  • Provide coaching, advocacy, information and referral, linkage and coordination with resources, and ongoing support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
