- Integrate the diagnostic framework across a range of controllers, embedded targets, and vehicle platforms, and manage versioned updates to these shared components in lockstep
- Work with homologation teams to translate evolving diagnostic and regulatory requirements into actionable engineering work, and support certification and reporting activities
- Build test infrastructure (e.g., SIL/HIL) that validates DEM and DTC behavior consistently across controllers and platforms
- Develop diagnostic tooling and service routines that help technicians accurately identify and clear faults in the field
- Monitor fleet-wide diagnostic data to track DTC trigger rates, and build dashboards that surface trends, catch regressions, and feed top field issues back to development teams
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine internal processes, streamline development, and drive on-time product releases
- Document technical procedures and create guidelines that enhance collaboration and knowledge transfer
- Proven background in automotive diagnostics, including hands-on development of embedded diagnostic software
- Familiarity with global OBD regulations and certification processes

The two-seat electric robotaxi, designed for unsupervised autonomy without a steering wheel or pedals, was praised by DeSantis as "clearly very beneficial." DeSantis rode in the vehicle on the test track, where it successfully navigated simulated hazards including a child in the street and traffic incidents. He emphasised that safety remains the top priority before wider deployment. Florida maintains some of the most permissive autonomous vehicle regulations in the US, allowing fully autonomous vehicles to operate on public roads without a human operator present. Tesla describes the Cybercab's early production ramp as a slow "S-curve" expected to accelerate later this year, targeting up to 2 million units annually long-term.
Tesla has integrated Starlink satellite internet directly into its Cybercab autonomous vehicle, the company announced on Monday. The integration features a square cutout in the roofline housing the satellite equipment. Elon Musk said passengers will be able to watch live sports in 4K, films, games, or use productivity apps whilst riding. The technology will help address gaps in cellular coverage as Tesla expands its robotaxi service. During Tesla's second-quarter earnings call, Musk explained that Starlink connectivity is crucial to prevent robotaxis from becoming stranded in areas without cellular coverage. The integration represents another example of collaboration between Musk's companies, which also includes Tesla using SpaceX's Grok AI assistant and SpaceX purchasing Tesla products.
Elon Musk said SpaceX will use approximately 75% of output from Tesla's new Terafab semiconductor facility in Grimes County, Texas, with the remaining 25% going to Tesla's Optimus robot. The facility targets 1 terawatt of annual AI compute capacity at full scale. Musk said the compute output would support SpaceX's "AI spacecraft". He noted that 3,000 jobs announced for the facility represent only phase one of ten planned phases. The billionaire explained Texas was chosen over California for the site, stating "major new construction projects are de facto illegal in California", without providing additional details to support the claim. The facility will be crucial to Tesla's future vision, according to promotional materials shared on social media.
Tesla shares surged approximately 6% last week as retail investors bought the dip, injecting about $372 million into the stock over five trading days compared to $121 million the previous week, according to J.P. Morgan data cited by Barron's. This helped stabilise the stock after a 24% decline over three weeks, including an 18% drop following second-quarter earnings. Retail investors own roughly 40% of Tesla's tradable shares, double the typical retail ownership in major technology stocks. The company's second-quarter operating profit came in at approximately $400 million, significantly below Wall Street's $1.7 billion estimate. Despite retail support, Tesla shares remain down around 27% in 2025, trading at approximately 194 times estimated 2025 earnings.
Elon Musk's Tesla and SpaceX have confirmed plans for Terafab, a semiconductor megafactory in Grimes County, Texas. The facility will span over 100 million square feet, making it larger than China's New Century Global Center and the Pentagon combined. The companies have committed $16.8 billion for phase one, with a potential ceiling of $119 billion across multiple phases. However, SpaceX's binding commitment is $5 billion by 2030 and 1,800 jobs by 2035. Intel has also joined the project but hasn't disclosed its investment amount. Terafab will manufacture logic and memory chips to support production of Optimus robots, Cybercabs, and space-based data centres. The facility aims to produce over 1 terawatt of compute annually. Early production is expected in 2027, with mass production targeted for 2028. Texas has provided a $30 million grant to support the project.
