Requirements
  • The candidate must be at least 18 years of age for the Residential Care Facility role.
  • The candidate must have a valid driver's license and be able to drive safely for transportation and service provision.
  • The candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent; higher education is not required.
  • The candidate must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • The candidate must complete TB testing in compliance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and state recommendations.
  • The candidate must be able to lift up to 35 pounds, with heavier lifting requiring a two-person lift, mechanical lift, or assistive equipment.
  • The candidate must be able to sit and work at a computer for up to eight hours, stand for up to eight hours, and frequently bend, stoop, and stretch.
  • The candidate must wear hearing and eye protection in required areas.
  • The candidate must be able to see at a distance and perform close work involving typed or handwritten material.
  • The candidate must be able to hear conversations in quiet and noisy environments and distinguish the direction and differences of sounds such as bells, buzzers, beeps, and horns.
  • The candidate must be able to communicate through speech and remain awake during working hours when applicable.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with supervisors and programmers to develop individualized goals and provide direct support focused on teaching skills, promoting independence, and encouraging participation in community and recreational activities.
  • Implement approved behavioral strategies to support individuals with challenging behaviors while ensuring rights restrictions are applied only when determined by the interdisciplinary team and included in service plans.
  • Complete timely, detailed, and Iowa Code-compliant documentation in Setworks, accurately recording required service information, interventions, and individual responses with proper formatting and attention to detail.
  • Provide respectful, least-restrictive support in home and community settings while ensuring safety, protecting personal property, encouraging choice, and advocating for individual independence and self-determination.
  • Maintain reliable attendance by following call-in procedures, securing coverage when needed, and working assigned shifts.
  • Follow agency policies, report concerns appropriately, maintain flexibility, and complete required training.
