Asics just released a rugged new lifestyle shoe for 'everyday exploration' and it's available now.

Asics just released a rugged new lifestyle shoe for 'everyday exploration' and it's available now. The all-new Gel-Transcend FJ references archive Asics hiking and walking shoes from the 1990s. September 29, 2026, 11:48am Asics is embracing fall with the global launch of its new Gel-Transcend FJ model, a trail-informed lifestyle sneaker that the brand said is made for "everyday exploration." Available now in Black Coffee/Graphite Gray and Ash Green/Graphite Gray looks in men's and women's sizing, the Gel-Transcend FJ is a new model which borrows influences from archival Asics footwear. Most notably, the Gel-Transcend FJ gets inspiration from the Japanese sportswear company's 1990s hiking and walking shoes such as the Gel-Odyssey, Gel-Radius and the original Gel-Transcend series. This is seen through perforated rugged leather paneling atop a breathable mesh base, while the brand's Asics Stripes logo is molded into the lateral and medial sides. While the Gel-Transcend FJ is intended primarily as an everyday lifestyle shoe, Asics didn't skimp on the sneaker's tooling, which borrows from 2019's rugged Gel-FujiTrabuco trail shoe. The jagged, boot-like AsicsGrip rubber sole adds both durability and traction to the model while also bringing an aggressive aesthetic to the otherwise toned-down design. Cushioning was also considered, with the Gel-Transcend FJ using the brand's proprietary FlyteFoam technology for lightweight comfort. Asics lifestyle category, which the company calls Sportstyle, has also been in the news with the recent remastered reissue of Ronnie Fieg's Gel-Lyte 3 Salmon Toe sneaker. First released in 2011 to commemorate Kith's first store, the style was revisited in 2016 for the retailer's fifth anniversary with the Salmon Toe 2.0. This year, for Kith's 15th anniversary, it reissued the original Salmon Toe style, this time with genuine pigskin nubuck instead of the synthetics seen on the original 2011 release. After its official release on Friday, the Asics Gel-Transcend FJ is available now from asics.com and select global retailers for $150. Daily Headlines You May Like

ASICS and Above The Clouds go stealth with the woven GEL-SD-LYTE.

ASICS and Above The Clouds go stealth with the woven GEL-SD-LYTE. Updated: 25 September, 2026 Readtime: 3 min * ASICS and Above The Clouds built a woven GEL-SD-LYTE sneaker. * It's constructed with a black-and-gunmetal woven textile upper. * The shoe drops exclusively at Above The Clouds on September 26. * Global retailers like KITH and DSM launch it on October 3. * It's priced at AUD$300 under the official style code 1203B090.001. They should have called it the turantula, but Man of Many'll let it slide. ASICS SportStyle has teamed up with Australian fashion retailer Above The Clouds to release a new iteration of the GEL-SD-LYTE (AUD$300). With an intricate woven upper and rendered entirely in black and gunmetal, the design draws heavily on Japanese minimalism and traditional weaving techniques. Launching first through Above The Clouds on Saturday, September 26, 2026, ahead of a wider global rollout at ASICS.com/AU and select global retailers, including KITH, Notre and Dover Street Market, on Saturday, 3 October. It's one of the cleanest and most wearable silhouettes of the year. Positioned at the premium end of the current ASICS lineup, it sits alongside some of the brand's recent technical drops, such as the ASICS SportStyle x C.P. Company GEL-QUANTUM 360, and premium leather offerings like the GEL-KINETIC SP. However, this specific release focuses entirely on structural texture. The homies at Above The Clouds operate flagship spaces in Sydney and Melbourne, building a reputation for highly considered retail curation. This footwear project aligns with their architectural aesthetic, keeping the branding subtle and letting the woven textile serve as the primary focal point. The GEL-SD-LYTE relies entirely on a complex woven technique for its primary panelling. The black and gunmetal threads integrate directly into the shoe's physical structure alongside gunmetal snakeskin-print overlays and a breathable mesh tongue. It's a highly technical approach to sneaker design that maintains a minimal silhouette. For durability, a protective shell wraps directly around the toebox. Underfoot, ASICS pairs FLYTEFOAM(TM) PROPEL cushioning with a standard rubber outsole to deliver an energised feel for daily wear. If you're trying to secure a pair early, the primary drop happens exclusively at Above The Clouds this Saturday, September 26, 2026. If you miss out on the initial release, a secondary allocation arrives a week later on Saturday, October 3, 2026. This broader global drop includes the ASICS Australian online store as well as international boutique retailers like KITH, Notre, and Dover Street Market.

Kith celebrates 15th anniversary book with 4-day footwear exhibition.

Kith celebrates 15th anniversary book with 4-day footwear exhibition. Kith is marking its 15th anniversary with the release of a massive coffee table book, Kith: the Footwear Archive, and an exhibition that, like the book, features every shoe the company has ever produced. MR stopped by the exhibition to check it out. The space itself, which runs the full length of the 25 Kent Street building. A giant display built from shoeboxes filled the entire space. Visitors were able to view every style and collaboration of the luxury brand with multiple examples of each sitting atop their boxes. A coffee table lounge space was decorated with copies of the massive anniversary tome. The book, which is the largest ever produced by Assouline, contains 440 pages in full color. The white-on-white tome's spine is stamped with every brand Kith has collaborated with, including Asics, the first collab they ever did. The 15th-anniversary book isn't the first time Kith has turned to this format to mark a milestone. It similarly celebrated its 10th anniversary with a retrospective coffee table book of the company's fashions. Always pushing the envelope, Kith has taken a position of "expect the unexpected." Collabs with Cigarette Boat, its venturing into hospitality with Kith Ivy, and its CEO, Ronnie Fieg, taking a position as Creative Director for the New York Knicks, are among the many ways the brand has challenged conventions. Representatives from the brand said that the shoe exhibition and anniversary book are designed to create a moment less fleeting than a runway show. Staging the show in Brooklyn, where the brand got its start, and centering on footwear, the brand's first step into fashion, is a perfect fit for the streetstyle house. The exhibition, which runs until September 27th, can be found at 25 Kent Avenue, where their Brooklyn waterfront store is. The exhibition is on the 6th Floor, accessed by the buildings North entrance. Kith: The Footwear Archive will be available at all Kith stores starting September 30th.
