About the job

Requirements
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, along with initial leadership experience such as technical leadership, mentoring, or guiding small groups.
  • Production-level experience designing and reviewing dbt models and data pipelines hosted on Google Cloud BigQuery.
  • Expert-level SQL skills and strong Python scripting capabilities for pipeline orchestration, such as using Airflow or Cloud Composer.
  • Practical experience running agile ways of working and ownership of delivery commitments.
  • Professional English language skills at B2 level or higher.
Responsibilities
  • Lead a small team of 2–4 data engineers while remaining technically hands-on.
  • Help the team grow, run agile ceremonies such as sprint planning and retrospectives, and own the team’s quarterly objectives and key results.
  • Design, build, and review high-quality dbt models and pipelines on Google Cloud BigQuery to ensure reliable, performant, and actionable data.
Desired Qualifications
  • Basic familiarity with Terraform for managing cloud-based data assets.
  • Familiarity with PySpark and open table formats such as Apache Iceberg or Delta Lake.
  • Experience using tools such as Cursor or Claude in daily engineering tasks to improve productivity and code quality.
