  • Current Basic Life Support and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.
  • Successful completion of competency sign-off within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to communicate via telephone, video, and/or in person.
  • Ability to read documents, computer screens, and forms.
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, or otherwise move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use a keyboard and view computer screens for extended periods.

Responsibilities
  • Screen telephone calls, staff messages, and patient advice requests for referral to a Registered Nurse or medical provider and schedule visits as appropriate.
  • Provide direct clinical oversight for Medical Assistants assigned to the Care Team.
  • Conduct Medical Assistant procedures such as electrocardiography, respiratory testing, vision and hearing tests, ear irrigations, peak flow testing, and nebulizer treatments.
  • Screen Registered Nurse patient schedules to perform immunizations, follow-up education, medication administration, and co-visits with Registered Nurses.
  • Utilize the clinic resource schedule to perform visits under the direction of a Registered Nurse or provider.
  • Explain procedures and treatments to patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse or medical provider.
  • Collect patient data through observation, palpation, and auscultation during patient assessments under the direction of a Registered Nurse or medical provider.
  • Observe patients, record and report significant conditions and reactions, and notify a supervisor or medical provider of patient conditions and reactions to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
  • Communicate with Registered Nurses and medical providers regarding patient assessments and needs, and transition patients as needed.
  • Use Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation communication for warm handoffs to a Registered Nurse or medical provider.
  • Administer medications and vaccines as ordered by a medical provider or protocol.
  • Record patient history, examination notes, medication history, ongoing care, and referrals in the electronic health record according to protocols.
  • Manage tasks in the electronic health record inbox and assigned Registered Nurse or medical provider inboxes.
  • Ensure team inbox tasks are completed in a timely manner according to team role and scope.
  • Assist with chronic care management, including outreach calls and care coordination.
  • Assist with or facilitate routine daily team huddles.
  • Provide oversight to Medical Assistants as needed for safe vaccine delivery.
  • Maintain awareness of patients' comfort and safety needs.
  • Respond to medically urgent situations based on nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Refill medications according to refill protocol under medical provider supervision.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports.
  • Teach patients, families, and staff care, prevention, and treatment enhancement techniques under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and quality improvement activities.
  • Identify problems related to patient services and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Participate in evaluation of peers and support staff.
  • Perform specialized duties, projects, and other duties assigned by a supervisor.
