Huru taps Paymentology and Bitpanda to extend its account services.

Huru taps Paymentology and Bitpanda to extend its account services. Huru aims to issue about one million Universal Accounts over the next 12 months as it adds a Jaywan card and digital asset access. Get the hottest Fintech Middle East News once a month in your Inbox Huru has signed partnerships with Paymentology and Bitpanda Enterprise at Seamless Fintech Middle East 2026. The Emirati-owned app is licensed by the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE). Paymentology will keep processing Huru's cards. It will also support the Q4 2026 launch of a Huru card on Jaywan, the UAE's domestic card scheme. Bitpanda Enterprise will let users buy, sell and hold digital assets in the Huru app through Bitpanda's regulated platform. More than 24,000 employers pay a combined AED 3 billion in annualised salaries into Huru accounts, the company says. Huru has also partnered with nine exchange houses after the CBUAE's push for Universal Accounts. It aims to issue about one million of these accounts over the next 12 months. A Universal Account is a digital account in the holder's own name, with its own IBAN. Unlike a salary card, it stays with the holder when they change jobs. Users can receive their salary, send money home, pay bills, top up their phones, save and use a card. They can also access credit for unexpected expenses through Huru's Quick Cash, and the app comes in seven languages. Employers keep their usual payroll process. Huru works with the Wage Protection System (WPS), so pay cycles stay the same. Salary files still go through the employer's bank, while Huru handles account onboarding and transition support. "By bringing together card processing and new financial capabilities around the Universal Account, we are building an ecosystem that can grow with our customers' needs while expanding access to regulated financial services across the UAE," said Abhimanyu Girotra, Chief Executive Officer of Huru. "Our longstanding partnership with Huru has enabled us to support its growth and evolution over time, and we are proud to play a role in this latest milestone," said Nauman Hassan, Regional Director MENA at Paymentology.

Paymentology marks five years in LATAM, Mexico at core of growth.

Paymentology marks five years in LATAM, Mexico at core of growth. By Paloma Duran | Journalist and Industry Analyst - Mon, 09/28/2026 - 11:34 DIA assistant Paymentology, a global issuer-processor, marks five years in Latin America with Mexico at the center of its regional expansion across more than 15 markets. The company has evolved from card processing into credit, BNPL, Cards-as-a-Service, cross-border payments and stablecoin-linked cards through its cloud-native Lume platform, serving clients such as albo, UnDosTres, Rain and ARQ. The strategy targets Mexico's growing demand for embedded finance as banks and fintechs seek scalable infrastructure to launch digital financial products. Paymentology, a global issuer-processor, has completed five years of operations in Latin America and is positioning Mexico as the anchor of its next phase of regional growth. Over that period, the company has moved beyond card issuing and processing to build a platform that supports credit, embedded finance and stablecoin-linked payments for banks, fintechs and other financial institutions across more than 15 markets in the region. The milestone comes as Latin America's financial ecosystem shifts from the rapid adoption of digital payments toward a more sophisticated stage, in which credit, accounts, wallets and other financial services are bundled into integrated digital experiences. Paymentology has adapted its offering to that transition, aiming to help clients design and launch new financial products rather than simply digitize transactions. According to Pedro Blanco Pinto, Head of Business Development for LAC, Paymentology, the region has changed profoundly in five years. Banks, fintechs and new market entrants now seek more flexible products tailored to customer needs, he says, and the company's value lies in pairing global technology with local market knowledge to turn new concepts into scalable products quickly. From Card Processing to Credit and Stablecoins The centerpiece of the company's recent evolution is Lume, the cloud-native issuing and processing platform launched in 2026. Lume combines global scale with market-level localization through regional instances and is designed to support emerging use cases, including stablecoin-linked payments, tokenization, embedded finance and digital credit. The platform runs on a multi-cloud architecture that integrates infrastructure from Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud, and it replaces legacy VPN connectivity with a Zero Trust security model based on identity authentication, as reported by MBN. The launch followed a US$175 million strategic investment from Apis Partners and Aspirity Partners. Rising demand for more modern lending options has also pushed Paymentology into credit. Its platform now supports buy now, pay later (BNPL), revolving credit and installment loans, alongside Cards-as-a-Service, cross-border payments, multicurrency accounts and new payment experiences. The expansion builds on plans the company outlined in early 2025, when it announced Pay Credit, a proprietary ledger-based system allowing banks to manage revolving credit without relying on third-party providers. The company's architecture pairs a single global platform and API with regional instances that address local requirements on regulation, data residency, performance and operational continuity. This allows institutions to begin operating in one country and expand into others without replacing their processing infrastructure, a key consideration for fintechs with multi-market ambitions. Paymentology has also strengthened its partner ecosystem, working more closely with BIN sponsors and reseller partners to lower entry barriers for fintechs and new issuers. That approach reflects a strategy the company detailed last year, focused on Tier 2 and Tier 3 banks and on fintech resellers that give smaller players a scalable route to enterprise-grade processing, according to MBN. Mexican Clients Anchor Regional Footprint Paymentology's client roster illustrates the breadth of models it supports. The company has enabled embedded credit and Cards-as-a-Service for UnDosTres and supported the evolution of albo's digital financial services. When the albo partnership was announced, the Mexico City-based neobank served more than two million users and had reported US$6.5 billion in annual transaction volume for 2023. Paymentology has also worked with Rain to develop stablecoin-linked physical and virtual cards for consumers and corporate employees, and with ARQ to expand cross-border transfers across Latin America and the Caribbean. Blanco underscores that the company combines over two decades of issuer-processing experience with an architecture built for the next generation of payments. With a presence in 68 countries, its regional and multi-cloud infrastructure is designed to adapt to each market's requirements while reinforcing availability and operational continuity. A Market Moving Toward Embedded Finance Looking ahead, Latin America remains a priority region, with Mexico at the center of the strategy alongside Colombia and Central America, while South America and the Caribbean offer new opportunities. The company plans to keep investing in technology and local capabilities, with particular focus on embedded finance, AI applied to payments, agentic commerce, tokenization, stablecoins, cross-border payments and new issuing and credit models. Mexico's market dynamics support that focus. Galileo's 2026 Adaptive Banking Report found that 80% of companies in Mexico see embedded finance as their primary expansion opportunity, making the country Latin America's leading market for the model, MBN reported. At the same time, the local fintech ecosystem is maturing: FinTech Mexico's Insights 2026 counts 1,100 active entities in the region's second-largest ecosystem, with priorities shifting from rapid expansion toward sustainable operations and technological maturity, according to MBN. Stablecoins are also gaining ground, having moved in 2025 from mostly trading use toward operational roles in payments, treasury and cross-border finance, as noted in MBN. For Blanco, the five-year mark matters less than the opportunities ahead, from credit and new issuing models to stablecoins, tokenization and increasingly integrated financial services. Paymentology intends to grow alongside its clients and partners by combining its global technology with teams that understand each market in depth.

Apple Pay set for India debut via Axis Bank partnership.

Apple Pay set for India debut via Axis Bank partnership. Published 1 day ago Apple is preparing to launch its mobile wallet service in India next month, initially supporting Axis Bank credit cards as it enters one of the world's largest digital payments markets. Axis Bank partnership details. Apple is gearing up to introduce its mobile wallet service in India next month through a collaboration with Axis Bank, a major private sector lender in the country. The initial rollout will support credit cards issued by Axis Bank, according to Reuters, which cited sources with knowledge of the plans. This move positions Apple to tap into one of the globe's most expansive digital payments ecosystems. Market position and scale. Axis Bank ranks as India's fourth-largest credit card issuer, with 16.26 million active credit cards recorded in July, based on Reserve Bank of India (RBI) figures cited by the news agency. The bank trails three competitors in total card issuance: HDFC Bank, SBI Cards, and ICICI Bank. Expansion talks underway. Apple has also engaged in discussions with HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank to broaden the service's reach beyond Axis Bank. However, commercial terms with these additional partners have not yet been finalised, sources told Reuters. The company intends to bring more domestic lenders onto the platform gradually through individual agreements, following the phased approach it has used in other markets. How Apple Pay works. The service enables iPhone owners to conduct contactless transactions both in physical stores and online by using tokenised card credentials saved on their devices. This technology allows users to make payments without exposing their actual card numbers during transactions. Competitive landscape. Apple's entry comes as India's digital payments infrastructure continues expanding its contactless payment options. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) recently unveiled the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) 'Tap & Pay' feature, designed for NFC-enabled smartphones and point-of-sale terminals. UPI dominates India's payments landscape, handling roughly 84% of the country's total digital payment volumes. Regional momentum. Last month, card issuing and processing platform Paymentology integrated Apple Pay for GoTyme Bank in the Philippines, making the digital bank one of the first issuers in that market to offer the service. This reflects Apple's broader push to expand its payments footprint across Asian markets. Original coverage by electronic payments international. Paymentology powers Maxim's UK launch, expanding access to credit for the African diaspora.

Paymentology powers Maxim's UK launch, expanding access to credit for the African diaspora. * Infrastructure * 02.09.2026 11:09 am Paymentology, a global issuer processor, has partnered with Maxim, the borderless credit platform for Africans, to support the launch of its new credit card programme in the UK. The partnership brings together Maxim's ambition to improve access to credit for Africans living across borders with Paymentology's cloud-native issuer processing technology and global payments expertise. Maxim officially marked its UK launch at an event held at Emirates Stadium, home of Arsenal Football Club, on Thursday 27 August. During the event, Paymentology's Global Head of Partnerships, Merusha Naidu, joined Maxim CEO, Ibrahim Oladele on stage to discuss the partnership and the role modern payments infrastructure can play in creating more inclusive and relevant financial products. Maxim was created to address a challenge faced by many people moving to a new country: despite having established careers, incomes and financial histories elsewhere, they can find themselves effectively starting again when it comes to accessing credit. Experian estimates that more than five million people in the UK are currently "credit invisible", with little or no credit history available to mainstream financial services providers. Initially focused on the Nigerian diaspora in the UK, Maxim provides credit cards for both newcomers with limited UK credit history and more established residents looking for a product that better reflects how they live and spend. Through its partnership with Paymentology, Maxim can deliver the processing capabilities needed to support its UK card programme while building a foundation for long-term momentum and future growth. Paymentology's cloud-native technology provides the flexibility and scalability required to launch, evolve and scale differentiated card propositions as customer needs and ambitions change. Ibrahim Oladele, CEO of Maxim, said: "Moving to a new country should not mean leaving your financial identity behind. Too many talented and ambitious people arrive in the UK with years of experience and financial history, only to find that none of it counts. Maxim is building a more connected financial journey for Africans living across borders, beginning with credit cards that help customers establish their financial footprint while accessing rewards that genuinely reflect their lives. Paymentology shares our belief that financial products should be built around the people using them, making them the right partner to help us bring that vision to life." Unlike traditional rewards programmes, Maxim's points-based ecosystem has been designed around the interests and lifestyles of the African diaspora. Customers can earn points through everyday spending and redeem them across a curated range of experiences and services, including African restaurants and brands, music events, live entertainment, transport, cinema, theatre, football tickets and shipping between the UK and Nigeria. Maxim is already active in Nigeria, where it provides access to interest-free credit. Its expansion into the UK represents the next step in building a more continuous financial experience for Africans moving between markets, allowing the company to support customers across different stages of their lives and financial journeys. Julie Sutton, Head of Growth Europe at Paymentology, said: "Maxim is tackling a very real problem: people's lives and ambitions increasingly cross borders, but financial systems often do not. Building more inclusive services requires both a deep understanding of customers and flexible, scalable technology. At Paymentology, we help ambitious fintechs become unstoppable. By combining Maxim's understanding of the African diaspora with our global reach and modern issuer processing capabilities, we're helping to create a relevant card programme that is ready to scale in the UK and beyond." The launch builds on Paymentology's long-standing presence across both Africa and the UK. Its cloud-native Lume platform supports banks, digital banks and fintechs in creating and scaling card programmes across 68+ countries, combining global reach with local market knowledge and on-the-ground expertise.

Paymentology powers GoTyme Bank's Apple Pay launch in the Philippines.

Paymentology powers GoTyme Bank's Apple Pay launch in the Philippines. * Payments * 18.08.2026 08:26 am Paymentology, the leading global issuer processor, today announced the successful launch of Apple Pay for GoTyme Bank in the Philippines. Through this launch, GoTyme becomes one of the first issuers in the Philippine market to enable Apple Pay, giving 10 million customers an easy, secure and private way to pay using their Apple devices. As one of the country's fastest-growing digital banks, GoTyme continues to accelerate its digital payments strategy by expanding secure, seamless and convenient payment experiences for Filipino consumers. Customers can now securely add their GoTyme debit card to Apple Wallet and make contactless payments in stores, within apps and online wherever Apple Pay is accepted. Apple Pay uses industry-leading tokenisation technology, meaning card numbers are never stored on devices or shared with merchants. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, with every transaction authenticated through Face ID, Touch ID or a device passcode, providing an additional layer of security while delivering a fast, frictionless checkout experience. Nate Clark, President and CEO at GoTyme Bank commented: "At GoTyme Bank, we're constantly looking for ways to make banking simpler, safer and more rewarding for our customers. Bringing Apple Pay to GoTyme Bank customers in the Philippines gives them an easy and secure way to pay wherever they shop while continuing to earn rewards points on all their transactions. This is another step in our commitment to making everyday banking more beautiful and convenient for our customers." The launch comes as digital payments continue to reshape the Philippine economy. According to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), digital payments now account for more than half of all retail payment transactions, as consumers increasingly embrace mobile-first banking and contactless payments. Meanwhile, smartphone penetration continues to rise, supporting growing demand for digital wallets and tokenised payment experiences. As digital commerce accelerates, enabling secure mobile payments through services such as Apple Pay is becoming an increasingly important differentiator for financial institutions. Minh-Ha Truong, Head of Growth, APAC at Paymentology, added: "As a long-standing partner to GoTyme, we're proud to support another significant milestone in its growth journey. Bringing Apple Pay to market demonstrates how modern, cloud-native issuer processing enables digital banks to rapidly deliver innovative payment experiences while maintaining the highest standards of security, scalability and performance. Together, we're helping shape the future of digital payments in the Philippines." The launch further strengthens GoTyme's position as one of Southeast Asia's leading digital banks and highlights the value of Paymentology's cloud-native issuer processing platform in helping banks and fintechs rapidly introduce innovative payment capabilities that meet evolving customer expectations.
