Responsibilities
  • Lead customer site visits and operational assessments to understand workflows, volumes, layouts, materials, shift patterns, and constraints; identify repeatable, high-value use cases for humanoid robotics.
  • Align customer Operations, Engineering, IT, Safety, Procurement, and executive stakeholders on the problem to solve and measurable success criteria, including throughput, availability, accuracy, and human intervention.
  • Build business cases and fleet-sizing models covering utilisation, labour assumptions, total cost of ownership, payback, and sensitivity to performance and deployment ramp-up.
  • Define solution concepts, workflows, layouts, robot configurations, infrastructure, and interfaces with customer systems such as WMS, MES, ERP, and existing automation.
  • Work with Product and Engineering to validate feasibility, distinguish demonstrated capabilities from development requirements, and agree capability gaps, owners, validation plans, and realistic timelines.
  • Translate customer demand into prioritised Product requirements, balancing commercial value, engineering effort, and potential reuse across customers.
  • Identify safety, cybersecurity, and deployment compliance requirements, coordinating with specialists and documenting actions needed for customer approval.
  • Own technical content for proposals, solution specifications, statements of work, RFI/RFP responses, and customer technical due diligence, working with Commercial and Legal on commitments.
  • Provide technical cost and resource estimates to support pricing, deployment planning, and commercial risk assessment.
  • Create and maintain the pre-sales technical library, including capability and performance evidence, use-case descriptions, technical presentations, reference architectures, layouts, integration guides, FAQs, demonstration assets, business-case models, and requirements/SOW templates.
  • Train Commercial colleagues and relevant partners to qualify use cases, gather appropriate site data, and communicate approved technical capabilities consistently.
  • Use operational modelling and simulation to assess suitability and deployment economics, including Humanoid AnalitIQ where appropriate.
  • Define technical scope for demonstrations, proofs of concept, and pilots, including baseline measurements, test conditions, resources, milestones, pass/fail criteria, and acceptance evidence.
  • Work with Commercial to connect each evaluation to a measurable long-term business case and a credible path to larger fleet or multi-site deployment.
  • Coordinate technical input to trials with Product, Engineering, and Deployment; evaluate results, resolve gaps, and translate learning into revised requirements and reusable material.
  • Define the Solutions Engineering operating model, ownership, technical review process, and engagement with regional sales teams, Product, Engineering, and Deployment.
  • Develop a phased hiring and coverage plan across the UK/EU, US, and MENA, aligned to pipeline value, opportunity complexity, travel demand, and delivery capacity.
  • Recruit, onboard, coach, and lead regional Solutions Engineers, establishing consistent standards for discovery, solution design, technical documentation, and commercial judgement.
  • Establish tools, CRM discipline, knowledge base, and reporting to track requirements, feasibility decisions, proposal progress, technical risks, and team performance.

According to James York, emerging technologies could transform claims functions and risk strategies by allowing firms to intervene before and during losses. This shift suggests a future where insurance combines software, AI, and physical machinery to monitor, mitigate, and transfer risk in new ways. Humanoid surveyors and autonomous repair fleets. The economics of advanced robotics present both challenges and opportunities. Early models remain expensive, but the technology can support investment in repair networks and service providers that reduce long-term claims costs. As risk controls evolve, robotic intervention may reduce distressing losses in various sectors. Humanoid, wheeled, and specialist autonomous hardware are already beginning to emerge. Companies like Boston Trends and Tesla have developed recognizable robots such as Atlas and Optimus. Neo, developed by 1X Technologies, offers remote operation capabilities. Every remotely controlled task generates training data, allowing the systems to improve with use. This capability opens the door to remote surveys and inspections, from factory risk assessments to ship hull examinations. Construction could change significantly as well. UK startup All3 is developing robotic systems capable of generating vast quantities of project data. As construction risks evolve in real time, insurers may eventually be able to adjust pricing and cover dynamically rather than relying solely on static project assessments. Agriculture provides another example. Fruit-picking robots developed by companies such as Fieldwork Robotics and Dogtooth Technologies could support interventions before crop losses occur. Companies have created impressive prototypes, but industrial adoption has been slow due to lengthy development cycles, high costs, and the lack of a clear path to measurable returns. Most humanoid development programs required 18 to 24 months just to produce an early working model, which delayed commercialization and forced startups to burn through capital before they could prove their value. Artem Sokolov, entrepreneur and founder of Humanoid, decided to challenge these timelines. Less than two years ago, he founded Humanoid, a British robotics and artificial intelligence company focused on industrial applications, and his team developed their first system, the HMND 01 Alpha, in just seven months. This tight timeline reflected a deliberate strategy: to build robots for real-world applications, not just lab demos, and to test them early on in commercial partnerships. Humanoid positions its robots as workforce infrastructure. The company focuses on performing repetitive and physically demanding tasks in logistics and manufacturing, where labor shortages and demographic challenges are already forcing operators to rethink their approach to automation. "Backed by $50 million in capital raised under the leadership of our founders and utilizing "robotics-as-a-service" and "capital expenditure" business models, Humanoid aims to make humanoid systems not only technically viable but also economically viable for widespread adoption,' says Artem Sokolov on investor side of the project. This monotony stayed with him, and years later became the foundation of the Humanoid concept: automation should help people and improve the quality of work. Sokolov views "human robots" as the answer to the persistent prevalence of routine labor. Millions of workers continue to perform physically demanding and monotonous tasks in logistics, warehousing, and manufacturing, even as developed countries face a growing labor shortage. In the U.S. alone, industry leaders predict that millions of job openings will remain unfilled by the end of the decade, creating operational challenges in sectors that rely on human dexterity and mobility. Humanoid's mission is directly tied to this need. Sokolov Artem believes that robotics should enhance human capabilities by taking on monotonous or dangerous tasks, allowing employees to focus on more important responsibilities. It is this philosophy that defines the company's focus on versatile humanoid robots designed for environments already built by Sokolov for people. Rather than forcing factories to redesign their workflows to accommodate machines, Humanoid strives to create machines that integrate into existing production environments. For Sokolov, this opportunity lies at the intersection of economics and human dignity: a labor market that can no longer provide enough workers to perform essential manual labor, and a technological breakthrough that finally makes the deployment of humanoids commercially viable.
