About the company

Travis Perkins is a large UK supplier of building materials and home improvement products. It grew from two family businesses (Perkins & Co and Travis timber importers) that merged in 1988 and expanded through acquiring many other businesses, including Wickes in 2005, to serve both tradespeople and DIY customers. Its operations center on distributing a wide range of products—timber, bricks, plaster, plumbing and heating, decorating, tools, and related building supplies—through a network of branches and direct-to-consumer channels, plus online ordering. The company differentiates itself by its scale, diversified portfolio of brands and outlets, and a strong emphasis on growth through acquisitions that widen its geographic reach and product offerings. Its goal is to remain a leading UK building materials and home improvement group by expanding its reach, product range, and service capabilities across both trade and consumer markets.

Travis Perkins and Tarmac partner on load security strategy.

Travis Perkins and Tarmac partner on load security strategy. 19th October 2026 News 16 Views Builders' merchant Travis Perkins and building materials manufacturer Tarmac have worked in partnership to deliver the implementation of new load security hooding machines. The automated technology provides improved load stability and security through the use of stretch hood films, ensuring a high-quality security wrap is in place to help the product withstand the most demanding conditions. The hooding machines have been installed at four Tarmac bagging plants in Dunbar, Aberthaw, Tunstead and West Thurrock, and are used to prepare products ahead of the thousands of journeys a year Tarmac makes to complete deliveries to Travis Perkins branches. The new approach, which has been backed by a multi-million pound advancement, has already seen a reduction in the number of load stability related incidents by more than 90%. John Duffy, senior category manager for aggregates, blocks and cement at Travis Perkins, said: "Both ourselves and Tarmac are completely united in our commitment to put safety above all else. "That means making continuous improvements and taking the right decisions at all times to ensure colleagues and customers are safe, regardless of the cost implications. "We are delighted to work with Tarmac on this project which now ensures 100% of the cement delivered to our branches arrives with the protective hoodings in place."

Travis Perkins revenue falls 1.6% in third quarter.

Travis Perkins revenue falls 1.6% in third quarter. 16th October 2026 Updated: 16th October 2026 Northamptonshire-based builders' merchant Travis Perkins has reported a 1.6% decline in group revenue for the three months to 30 September 2026, as weak construction activity and lower demand in the UK residential building sector continued to affect trading. The company said market conditions remained challenging, particularly in new-build housing, amid ongoing economic uncertainty. Group like-for-like revenue fell 1.3% during the quarter, with sales volumes declining 7.2%, partly offset by a 5.9% increase from pricing and sales mix. The Merchanting division recorded a 2.6% fall in total revenue, while like-for-like sales declined 2.2%. Volumes dropped 9%, although a 6.8% improvement in price and mix helped offset some of the impact. The division continues to prioritise higher-margin transactions and manage credit exposure to protect profitability. It is also working to recover rising input costs through pricing, while comparing its performance against a period of heavier promotional activity in the third quarter of 2025. Gavin Slark, Chief Executive Officer, commented, "In challenging market conditions we remain focused on what we can control. Our ongoing cost discipline and trading approach are protecting profitability whilst we continue to identify and implement further operational efficiencies. We look forward to providing more detail on our strategy and operational priorities at our Preliminary results in March 2027." Toolstation UK delivered stronger results, with total revenue increasing 3.7% and like-for-like sales rising 3.6%. Both volumes and price and mix contributed 1.8% growth. The business continues to expand its operations, with further store openings planned for 2027. However, Toolstation Benelux reported a 3.8% decline in total revenue, including a 4.7% fall in like-for-like sales. The group is continuing its strategic review of the business to assess options for improving performance. For the first nine months of 2026, Travis Perkins reported a 1.8% decline in group revenue, with like-for-like sales down 0.9%. Merchanting revenue fell 2.6% over the period, while Toolstation UK grew 3% and Toolstation Benelux declined 5.3%. The group said it remains focused on operational improvements, cash flow generation and maintaining its financial position as construction market conditions remain subdued. Travis Perkins goes electric with new company car scheme from JCT600 VLS.

Travis Perkins goes electric with new company car scheme from JCT600 VLS. Travis Perkins is accelerating its shift to lower-emission vehicles with a new electric car scheme from JCT600 Vehicle Leasing Solutions (VLS). Following a competitive tender process, JCT600 VLS has been selected by the UK's largest distributor of building materials to deliver its new electric car scheme to essential business users. The scheme builds on a successful five-year relationship between the two firms and enables colleagues to choose from a range of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) or plug-in hybrids (PHEVs). JCT600 VLS will deliver a full end-to-end solution from vehicle funding through to fully outsourced fleet management, including in-life maintenance and service, driver management, new driver onboarding, fine and recharge management, as well as refurb and reallocation of vehicles, to maximise fleet utilisation. Travis Perkins awarded JCT600 VLS the contract due to its transparent commercial model, clearly defined and measurable service levels, as well as direct access to its knowledgeable, experienced team. Helen McGowan, group benefits manager at Travis Perkins Group, said: "Having worked with JCT600 VLS for more than five years, we've built a strong relationship through tackling previous challenges together. But the main reason we've continued the partnership is their people. Their culture is similar to ours, nothing is ever any trouble, and there's a willingness from the top down to work as true partners and keep everything as streamlined and simple as possible. They manage everything for us, which takes the pressure off knowing our colleagues and their company cars are well looked after." Under its 'right first-time' approach, JCT600 VLS worked with the group to implement and launch the scheme internally to eligible colleagues, delivering a bespoke webinar to fully explain the scheme, along with updated documentation such as FAQs and guides. Colleagues will be able to understand the scheme, order and manage their vehicle through VLS' driver platform, Origo. A dedicated account management team also gives Travis Perkins plc and its drivers a single, consistent point of contact, allowing for better ownership, control and quicker resolutions. Ben Creswick, managing director at JCT600 VLS, said: "Travis Perkins choosing us for their new electric car scheme is a testament to the entire team. We know we have the digital infrastructure in place, the experience of delivering complex, large-scale fleet schemes and a genuinely competitive commercial offering, but I'm delighted it was ultimately our people and relationship that made the difference. It's something we really pride ourselves on and what makes us stand out from the crowd."
