About the company

Quantinuum provides both quantum hardware and software. Its H1-1 processor runs any quantum program, and TKET is an architecture-independent stack that lets developers design circuits usable on different quantum devices. It adds quantum-secure protection by delivering encryption keys hardened for quantum threats at the device level. Its goal is to help real-world problems like fast drug development, new materials design, and supply-chain optimization, while keeping data safe from evolving cyber threats.

What believers are saying

  • September 8, 2026 CHIPS funding and GlobalFoundries partnerships de-risk manufacturing scale-up.
  • August 11, 2026 Oracle partnership opens enterprise access to Helios through OCI.
  • September 3, 2026 Aramco MOU expands Middle East commercial reach into energy workflows.

What critics are saying

  • August 11, 2026 revenue was $8 million, while GAAP net loss hit $597 million.
  • Adjusted EBITDA loss reached $68 million in Q2 2026, proving brutal capital intensity.
  • Utility-scale fault tolerance remains years away; revenue depends on research contracts, not durable demand.

What makes Quantinuum unique

  • Helios led QUOPS on September 2026, beating Google Willow and IBM Boston.
  • Oracle will host Helios on OCI, marrying quantum hardware with enterprise cloud distribution.
  • CHIPS award backs Quantinuum's QCCD trapped-ion stack and domestic semiconductor manufacturing.

Quantinuum says its quantum error correction scales well beyond breakeven, with over 10x gains

Quantinuum announced on Monday that its current generation of quantum hardware can scale well beyond the breakeven point for error correction. Each step up in the size of its logical qubits improved some performance measures by a factor of more than 10. Logical qubits link many hardware qubits so errors can be detected and corrected. Adding hardware qubits helps only if their error rate is low enough; otherwise, more qubits add more errors. Earlier demonstrations from several companies passed breakeven, but the gains were modest. Reaching error rates low enough for complex algorithms would have required an impractical number of qubits per logical qubit.

Quantinuum hits 99.9995% logical fidelity, cutting error rate 10x on path to 2029 fault tolerance

Quantinuum said its Helios computer reached a logical fidelity of 99.9995% in error correction, equal to five errors per million operations. The company calls it a world record, 10 times better than its own mark from September 2026 and 100 times better than the best published result on other hardware, from Google Quantum AI. The Broomfield, Colorado company used a "color code" within its error-correction architecture on the same Helios hardware as its earlier Helix code result. Each increase in code distance cut logical errors by a factor of 12. Quantinuum says the accuracy is now in the target range for Apollo, its planned fault-tolerant quantum computer due by 2029. Chief executive officer Rajeeb Hazra said the company has "crossed the threshold necessary for exponential improvements in accuracy.

Quantinuum partners with University of Western Australia to build quantum computing talent and applications

Quantinuum has signed a memorandum of understanding with The University of Western Australia to advance the country's quantum computing capabilities. UWA-affiliated researchers, students, and entrepreneurs will gain cloud-based access to Quantinuum's quantum computing platform, including Helios, described as the world's most accurate commercial quantum computer. The collaboration will focus on developing quantum applications for sectors critical to Australia's economy, including critical minerals, energy, agriculture, and healthcare. The organisations will explore establishing a university-wide quantum computing applications centre to bring together academic, industry, and government stakeholders. Quantinuum will provide access to training programmes and its ecosystem initiatives. Working with UWA researchers and industry stakeholders, Quantinuum experts will evaluate use cases and assess hybrid workflows integrating quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing.

QBTS and QNT stocks tumble 25% as Fed hikes rates, valuations reset

D-Wave Quantum and Quantinuum are experiencing significant share price declines as investor appetite for speculative quantum computing stocks wanes. QBTS has fallen 27.7% over three months, whilst QNT dropped 25.1%. The Federal Reserve raised its benchmark rate by 25 basis points to 3.75%-4.00% on 16 September, its first increase since July 2023. Combined with Brent crude exceeding $100 per barrel and 10-year Treasury yields nearing 5%, the macro environment has turned hostile for high-duration technology stocks. D-Wave reported second-quarter revenues of $3.1 million, flat year over year, though bookings rose 59%. Its adjusted EBITDA loss widened 85% as development spending increased. Quantinuum's second-quarter revenues jumped 279%, with projected 2026 revenues of $28-$32 million. However, its adjusted EBITDA loss reached $68 million. Management does not expect positive free cash flow until later this decade.
