About the job
- A bachelor's or master's degree in Music Therapy from an accredited program is required.
- Board certification as a Music Therapist from the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) is required.
- Musical intelligence and experience with a variety of instruments are required.
- Understanding of hospice philosophy and comfort providing specialized care to terminally ill patients are required.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Ability to follow safety rules and regulations, including the Vulnerable Adult/Abuse Policy, HIPAA, Resident Rights, Universal Precaution, AWAIR, OSHA, and Right to Know, is required.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Lead and assist patients in music therapy interventions.
- Reduce symptoms such as anxiety, depression, isolation, and agitation through music.
- Educate the clinical team about music therapy appropriateness and contraindications.
- Maintain accurate clinical notes, charts, and coordination notes within 24 hours of sessions, and update records as needed.
