About the job
- A Master’s degree is required.
- A valid Texas LMSW, LCSW, LPC-A, or LPC license in good standing is required.
- Must complete all new-hire orientation and competency training.
- Must possess or obtain valid CPR certification and de-escalation training before completing new-hire orientation.
- Follow doctors’ orders for inpatient admissions.
- Conduct thorough clinical interviews to assess mental health status, suicide and homicide risk, and co-occurring disorders.
- Facilitate admissions for inpatient care or refer patients to appropriate community resources and lower levels of care.
- Maintain accurate, timely medical records according to regulatory, state, and insurance standards.
- Provide immediate crisis intervention and supportive counseling to patients in acute distress.
- Use de-escalation techniques to handle emergencies, provide immediate crisis support, and ensure a safe environment.
- Collaborate with physicians, clinicians, and families to develop individualized care plans and coordinate transfers.
- Audit clinical records for compliance with hospital regulations, TAC, and JC, and ensure accurate documentation of assessments and medication management.
- Document all assessments and other aspects of patient care in medical records.
- Maintain professional therapeutic relationships with staff, patients, families, and visitors, and maintain patient confidentiality.
- 1–2 years of work experience in a behavioral health or hospital setting is preferred.
