Nursing Assistant
About the job
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Completion of a state-approved Nursing Assistant training course, documented completion of a military equivalent, or successful completion of the fundamentals semester of nursing school is required.
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required within 30 days of hire and must be recertified every two years.
- The role requires use of computers and electronic medical record software.
- The position requires the ability to self-start and multitask.
- The position involves working with patients, families, physicians, and other health care providers.
- Medium physical demand is required.
- Learn to perform basic patient care under the general supervision of a registered nurse in an acute hospital setting.
- Transport and transfer patients within the medical complex safely and efficiently using appropriate equipment and precautions based on patient health status.
- Assist with basic patient care involving nutrition, elimination, comfort, mobility, and safety.
- Assist nursing staff with lifting and ambulating patients according to appropriate practice guidelines.
- Maintain the environment and equipment, and locate and deliver appropriate equipment to Central Service and Maintenance departments.
- Collaborate with health care team members to communicate and document accurate information.
- Set priorities and complete delegated work within established time frames in accordance with unit guidelines.
- Adhere to the organization's mission statement, policies, and confidentiality standards.
- Participate in quality improvement activities to improve patient care and unit operations.
- Participate in unit staff meetings.
- Two years of previous health care experience.
