Requirements
  • Must possess good written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in sleep disorders, sleep activity, abnormalities, movement arousals, and respirations.
  • One year of experience in sleep study activity.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Current and unrestricted certification or registration as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and equipment for sleep disorders testing.
  • Arrive to work in a timely manner and review the activity list for the night's duties and patients.
  • Review assigned patient charts, greet patients, complete appropriate paperwork, and perform pre-test assessments.
  • Apply recording sensors, acclimatize patients to Continuous Positive Airway Pressure when applicable, and perform pre-recording calibration.
  • Monitor recordings during the evening according to protocol, including documentation and interventions as needed.
  • End recordings according to protocol, complete post-study documentation, remove sensors, and clean up as needed.
  • Score polysomnograms as needed and prepare reports for dictation.
  • Assist with training, orientation, and competency assessments as needed.
