Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Business Administration, or Hospitality is required, although additional related experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • Three years of experience in a Food and Nutrition Services environment in a lead or management capacity is required.
  • A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential, Certified Dietary Manager credential, or enrollment in an accredited Dietary Managers Association program with certification within one year of hire is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of therapeutic diets and the automated CBORD Diet Office management system is mandatory.
  • A ServSafe Food Protection Certification is required or must be obtained within the first six to twelve months of employment and maintained throughout employment.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and web applications is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet standards and time demands is required.
  • Ability to guide others in understanding guest service principles as they pertain to patients is required.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to supervise and train employees are required.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, direct, and manage Diet Office procedures and the assembly and efficient delivery of patient meals.
  • Contribute to a welcoming and safe environment, communicate clearly, resolve complaints and concerns, coordinate the plan of care with the multidisciplinary team, and support patient and family service expectations.
  • Monitor, direct, and control procedures for menu processing, nutritional screening, and delivery of tube feedings and therapeutic snacks consistent with prescribed diet orders.
  • Monitor and maintain standards for assembling and delivering patient meals to enhance client satisfaction.
  • Maintain a safe, sanitary, and efficient operation compliant with Federal, State, and local health regulations and The Joint Commission standards.
  • Monitor and maintain food and non-food supply inventory to support operational and financial efficiency.
  • Supervise subordinate staff, including selection, orientation, training, time and attendance documentation, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Coordinate and supervise ongoing staff development and training of Clinical Services staff.
  • Prepare accurate and timely accounting and financial reports on patient service revenues and expenses.
  • Collaborate with the Management team on annual goals and objectives, operating and capital budgets, and continuous quality improvement standards and processes.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise Clinical Nutrition Services delivery across inpatient units, ambulatory care clinics, physician practice clinics, community-based outreach programs, and patient support groups for long-term chronic medical and surgical disorders.
  • Maintain, monitor, and update the CBORD electronic patient food service system.
  • Coordinate, implement, and supervise upgrades to the CBORD Diet Office management system.
  • Assume responsibility for Patient Food Services in the absence of the Manager Patient Food Services.
  • Visit patients on nursing units as needed to ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Adhere to University Hospital compliance standards and ensure staff are trained and evaluated on job-specific compliance policies and procedures.
