Requirements
  • One to two years of combined work experience in Application Production Support, DevOps, Systems Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering.
  • Solid understanding of Linux and Unix internals, including filesystems, process management, networking, permissions, and systemd, as well as core system engineering concepts involving servers, services, and resource management.
  • Programming and debugging exposure in Java and Python, with familiarity with Java-based build tools such as Maven and Gradle.
  • Strong debugging and querying skills with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle Database, and MySQL.
  • Hands-on exposure to observability and logging platforms such as Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, and Dynatrace.
  • Experience with incident management and triage, and adherence to standard change and configuration management processes.
  • Basic understanding of continuous integration and continuous delivery concepts and tools such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
  • Exposure to generative artificial intelligence solutions, artificial intelligence models, and artificial-intelligence-assisted developer and support workflows.
  • A bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor the health, performance, and capacity of mission-critical applications and services across multi-region environments.
  • Act as a first-line responder to production alerts, outages, and system anomalies, participating in on-call rotations and rapid-response workflows.
  • Investigate and debug complex application, core system, network, and performance bottlenecks through to resolution.
  • Perform database-level troubleshooting, query analysis, data verification, and performance tuning across PostgreSQL, Oracle Database, and MySQL environments.
  • Partner with development, quality assurance, database, and infrastructure teams to identify underlying root causes and implement permanent fixes.
  • Build and refine telemetry dashboards, log aggregations, and alerting rules using Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, and Dynatrace.
  • Track and uphold key reliability metrics, including service-level indicators and service-level objectives, to minimize time to detect and time to mitigate.
  • Develop robust Python and Bash scripts and tools to automate repetitive operational tasks, health checks, and routine maintenance.
  • Support production deployments, continuous integration and continuous delivery pipeline runs using Jenkins and GitHub Actions, build validations using Maven and Gradle, and canary and smoke testing.
  • Execute production change requests in accordance with enterprise change-management and risk-assessment standards.
  • Use modern engineering practices and generative-artificial-intelligence-assisted workflows to accelerate log analysis, incident documentation, and operational efficiency.
Desired Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to use artificial-intelligence and generative-artificial-intelligence tools to accelerate log analysis, script generation, and issue investigation.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker containers and foundational knowledge of Kubernetes concepts.
  • Familiarity with public or private cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.
  • Basic awareness of infrastructure-as-code and configuration-automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform.

Qualcomm's Apple patent renewal secures $1.28B licensing revenue despite modem shift

Qualcomm has renewed its global patent licensing agreement with Apple, effective from 1 April 2027. Despite Apple developing its own modems and reducing chip purchases from Qualcomm, the iPhone maker will continue paying royalties to use Qualcomm's wireless technology patents. Qualcomm's licensing unit generated $1.28 billion last quarter at a 69% margin. The company's automotive revenue reached $1.59 billion, up 61%, marking its 23rd consecutive quarter of double-digit growth. Management expects non-handset growth to accelerate from 24% in fiscal 2026 to over 60% in fiscal 2027. Qualcomm shares trade at 15.34 times free cash flow, compared to Broadcom's approximate 43 times multiple. The company generated $12.82 billion in free cash flow in fiscal 2025 and returned $12.60 billion to shareholders. However, handset revenue fell 20% to $5.09 billion, with Android revenue expected to decline 20% this year.

Apple CEO Ternus eyes faster product releases and management cuts

Apple CEO John Ternus is exploring a faster, more flexible product strategy, potentially moving away from the company's traditional spring and autumn release schedule, Bloomberg reported. The chief executive, who succeeded Tim Cook earlier this month, is also considering reducing management layers to enable direct interaction between engineers and senior leaders. Changes are already underway in Apple's hardware organisation, with several engineering program manager positions recently eliminated. Around six directors have been affected, and they may seek internal transfers before leaving. Apple has also reduced staffing for Vision Pro, Siri, and Fitness+ roles. Meta's AI agent Muse threatens Apple's ecosystem as BofA warns of user intent interception risk

Bank of America has identified a new competitive threat to Apple from Meta Platforms' AI agent, Muse. The analyst warns that AI agents like Muse could intercept iPhone users' intent before Apple's own software, potentially undermining discovery, referral, and transaction economics within Apple's ecosystem. Muse has reached the top of Apple's App Store with at least 2.5 million downloads in its first weeks. It can shop online, fill out forms, and contact vendors, with partnerships including Shopify, Expedia, and PayPal.
