About the company

Reddit operates as a global online platform of communities where users post, vote, and discuss content around shared interests. People create and participate in topic-based “subreddits,” and the platform’s upvote/downvote system determines what content rises to visibility. Content flows from user-generated posts, comments, and conversations, while the business model relies on advertising revenue, premium memberships, and virtual goods (Reddit Coins). The platform differentiates itself through its large, diverse communities and explicit voting mechanism that rewards engaging, relevant discussions and fosters authentic interactions. Reddit’s goal is to help people connect through open discussions across a wide range of topics, while monetizing the activity through ads, memberships, and digital goods.

Reddit wins court ruling strengthening control over AI training data use

Reddit secured a court ruling in its dispute with Anthropic over data usage terms. A US judge found Reddit provided adequate evidence that Anthropic is bound by Reddit's User Agreement, which governs how the platform's data can be used. The decision strengthens Reddit's ability to control AI training on its user-generated content and pursue data licensing revenue. Reddit, valued at US$29 billion, already earns licensing income alongside advertising. The company booked US$35 million in data licensing revenue out of US$500 million total in Q2. The ruling provides a legal precedent for Reddit when negotiating or enforcing similar agreements with third parties. However, questions remain about the long-term durability of such revenue streams, particularly regarding deal renewals with partners including Google and OpenAI. Investors will watch Reddit's data licensing revenue figures in upcoming quarterly reports to assess the commercial impact of this legal victory.

Reddit stock down 43% as search referrals decline, forces shift to direct user growth

Reddit stock has fallen 43% over the past year to around $153, despite strong revenue growth of 61% in Q2 2026 to $805 million. The social media platform is earning more from existing users, with average revenue per unique user up 36% year-over-year, but faces declining search referrals. Daily active users remained flat as gains from product improvements were offset by fewer visitors from search engines. Management expects continued volatility in search traffic and guided Q3 2026 revenue growth to 47-49%, down from 61% in Q2. Reddit is responding by improving its home feed to become a destination site rather than relying on search referrals. New app user retention rose 50% year-over-year, though from a small base. The company's CEO described the feed optimisation as requiring a year of work, with models currently well behind industry standards.

Reddit offers insights from its Health Summit event.

Reddit offers insights from its Health Summit event. Sep 18, 2026 - 05:17 An article from The app presented data that showed the extent to which users turn to each other for medical advice and diagnoses. This audio is auto-generated. Please let Netzender.com know if you have feedback. Reddit held its first Health Summit in New York on Sept. 4, where it presented data on how people are using its platform for health-related research, and also explored how health-related marketers can tap into relevant Reddit discussion. This week, Reddit shared an overview of some of the key insights from the event, with a range of usage and trend notes that underline the rising value of the platform as a health resource. Notably, the company said that healthcare conversations on Reddit generated more than 36 billion views over the past year, and added that 46% of doctors in the U.S. are now active in the app. A key use case for the app is diagnosis. According to Reddit, in 2025, there were 473 million Reddit posts that connected symptoms to a possible condition. The value of Reddit discussions related to health is that these posts are shared by people who've been officially diagnosed with these health conditions. That allows them the opportunity to offer real, first-hand experience of diagnoses and care plans. As explained by Reddit: "Search and AI may help people find answers quickly, but online communities help them understand what those answers mean in real life. People turn to Reddit for lived experiences, nuanced perspectives, and candid conversations that can add context to clinical information." Reddit also shared a range of other data points from its Health Summit: Among women's reproductive health audiences, seven in 10 reported feeling more prepared for healthcare conversations after using Reddit. In the U.S., 61% of health information seekers use Reddit as a "final check" before taking action Ninety percent of views within gender-oriented communities came from woman-oriented spaces. Reddit also shared insights into the rising discussion around GLP-1 usage. According to the company, the top interest groups discussing GLP-1s were Healthy Living, Family & Relationships, Entertainment, Career Advice, Travel and Business & Finance. Reddit said that highlights how health discussion branches into different areas. Healthcare brands need to be aware of this when building outreach plans for the app. These are some interesting notes, which underline the value of Reddit as a collection of lived experience insights. The information also showcases the value of Reddit when it comes to providing crowd-sourced advice on health-related concerns.
