Requirements

An active Registered Nurse license in the State of Michigan is required.
A strong interest in neurology and high-acuity care is required.
Basic Life Support certification is required.
National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale certification must be obtained during unit orientation.
Experienced registered nurses and new graduates with a strong interest in neurology are eligible.

Responsibilities

Care for patients with neurologic deficits in a dedicated 29-bed stroke unit.
Provide care for ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, seizure disorders, headaches and mood disorders, rare and complex neurologic syndromes, and post-operative neurosurgical cases.
Use telemetry and cardiac monitoring as part of comprehensive patient monitoring.
Collaborate with dedicated pharmacists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, neurosurgeons, and interventionalists.
Participate in the Stroke Medical Response Team.
Provide high-acuity neurological and post-operative neurosurgical care.

Desired Qualifications

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification is preferred.

A Day in the Life

Be part of the only dedicated stroke unit in northern Michigan, a 29-bed private room unit specializing in the care of patients with neurologic deficits.
As part of a Comprehensive Stroke Center (CSC) designation, we care for a wide range of complex neurological conditions, including:
- Ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes
- Seizure disorders
- Headaches and mood disorders
- Rare and complex neurologic syndromes
- Post-operative neurosurgical care (e.g., thrombectomies, TNK, craniotomies, VP shunts)

Qualifications

What’s Required

Active Registered Nurse license in the State of Michigan
Passion for neurology and high-acuity care
BLS Certification
ACLS preferred
NIH Stroke Scale Certification (to be obtained during unit orientation)
Experienced RNs and new grads with a strong interest in neuro
