Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy is required.
  • A current Physical Therapist license is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required within 60 days of employment.
  • The role requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, and walking.
  • The role requires occasional reaching, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, and twisting.
  • Visual and hearing acuity are required.
  • The role may involve exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals or detergents, moving mechanical parts, potential electric shock, radiant energy, communicable diseases, and bloodborne pathogens.
Responsibilities
  • Plan therapy programs for each patient using prescribed physical modalities such as exercise, massage, heat, water, light, and electricity.
  • Apply diagnostic and prognostic tests for muscles, nerves, joints, and functional ability.
  • Direct and assist patients with active and passive exercises, muscle reeducation, gait training, and functional training using therapeutic equipment and surfaces.
  • Provide whirlpool and contrast baths and apply moist packs.
  • Direct patients in the care and use of wheelchairs, walkers, standers, braces, crutches, prosthetic devices, and orthotic devices.
  • Provide instruction in posture control and therapeutic procedures for continued patient use, and develop, instruct, and monitor home exercise programs.
  • Adapt conventional physical therapy techniques for patients unable to comprehend verbal commands or voluntarily perform therapeutic exercises.
  • Evaluate, record, and report patient progress for review by the rehabilitative team.
  • Maintain department, report, and patient records, including daily patient notes using the SOAP format.
  • Maintain department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety practices, environmental controls, and infection controls.
  • Assist with the care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
  • Participate in educational programs and in-service meetings to support professional development.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment.
  • Conduct or participate in training medical personnel, nursing personnel, and other workers in physical therapy techniques and objectives.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and appropriate handling of protected health information.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and report safety concerns appropriately.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Prior cardiac rehabilitation experience is preferred.
