  • Contribute across productization, including early architecture and design inputs, pre-silicon validation on emulation platforms, first-silicon bring-up, and post-silicon characterization across process, voltage, and temperature corners.
  • Write tests and build bare-metal environments and reusable frameworks that scale from pre-silicon platforms to large fleets of ASICs in the lab.
  • Build and maintain extensive lab automation to support validation at volume and velocity.

About the company

Meta builds Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger and Threads, apps that billions of people use to message friends, share photos and video, and follow creators and businesses. Most of its revenue comes from advertising: businesses buy placements across these apps, and Meta's AI systems decide who sees each ad and report the results. Its Meta Superintelligence Labs group builds the company's own AI models, the Meta AI assistant and the Muse agent app. Its Reality Labs unit makes Quest headsets and, with eyewear maker EssilorLuxottica, Ray-Ban and Oakley smart glasses. Meta was founded as Facebook in 2004 and is based in Menlo Park, California.

What believers are saying

  • A booming ad business backs pay and stock: Meta's revenue rose 28% to $60.8 billion in the June 2026 quarter.
  • AI engineers get vast resources: Meta expects $130 billion to $145 billion of capital spending in 2026.
  • Wearables teams are scaling: in February 2026, Meta sought to double glasses output to 20 million units this year.

What critics are saying

  • Job security is shaky: about 8,000 employees were hit by Meta's May 2026 layoffs, aimed at funding its AI push.
  • Meta's biggest apps still face a breakup fight: the FTC appealed its Instagram and WhatsApp court win in January 2026.
  • Hardware plans get reshuffled: Meta cut about 1,500 Reality Labs jobs in January 2026, shifting from the metaverse to wearables.

What makes Meta unique

  • Meta's four apps form one huge audience: 3.56 billion people used them daily in March 2026.
  • Meta leads smart glasses through eyewear giant EssilorLuxottica: their Ray-Ban and Oakley models sold over 7 million pairs in 2025.
  • Meta builds consumer AI agents in-house: its Muse app, launched September 2026, topped Apple's US free-app chart within ten days.

Meta beats Alphabet for AGI readiness as AI agents threaten search ads

The Motley Fool says Meta is better built than Alphabet for artificial general intelligence (AGI), based on its AIball scoring system, which rates companies from 0 to 100 on how well they are placed for AI's effects. Meta leads on protection from AI. People use Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp to see friends, watch videos, and pass time, so no AI agent stands between them and the ads. Alphabet's search ads are more exposed, since agents can answer queries and act on them. Meta's average price per ad rose 12% in the second quarter of 2026. Alphabet scores slightly higher as an AI chokepoint. Nine of the top 10 AI labs use Google Cloud, which earned $20 billion in the first quarter of 2026.

Meta's Muse AI agent hits 10.9M downloads as ChatGPT US downloads fall 25%

Meta's Muse AI agent has reached 10.9 million downloads since its September 8 launch, according to Sensor Tower. More than 10.2 million came from the US. US downloads of OpenAI's ChatGPT fell 25% in the past 30 days compared with the prior 30-day period. Muse hit 2.5 million daily active users for the first time on October 16, and the figure rose 15% week over week. Only 11 other apps have reached 10 million US downloads within 40 days. The most recent was Meta's Threads in July 2023. Deutsche Bank analyst Benjamin Black expects Muse to account for up to 8% of Meta's revenue by 2030, or roughly $36 billion. His low estimate is $2.4 billion. Meta reports earnings after the close of trading on Wednesday.

Zuckerberg thanks Apple's new CEO on X, not Threads, for Mac Studios running Meta's AI model

Meta chief executive officer Mark Zuckerberg publicly thanked Apple's new chief executive officer, John Ternus, on October 15 for help running Meta's latest AI model on Apple hardware. He posted on Elon Musk's X, not Meta's own Threads, to tag him. The model, Muse Spark Open, has 816 billion parameters and is free to download. It runs on two or four Mac Studios linked together, each with Apple's M5 Ultra chip. A Mac Studio with that chip starts at $5,499. The thanks mark a thaw. The companies clashed over privacy, and Apple's 2021 tracking changes cut an estimated $10 billion from Meta's 2022 revenue. Neither company has said whether more joint projects are planned.

Vectorial raises $3M to simulate consumer behaviour with AI

Vectorial AI Inc. has raised $3 million in seed funding to launch an AI platform that simulates human behaviour for consumer research. Smilegate and SenseAI Ventures jointly led the round, with funds from the University of California at Berkeley and Stanford University also taking part. Angel investors from Meta Platforms Inc., Mastercard Inc., and Shopify Inc. contributed too. The platform simulates thousands of users within target demographics, replacing surveys that can take weeks and often involve only 50 to 100 people. It runs on a model called SAPIENS, trained on data from more than 2.5 million real consumers. Vectorial says its simulations match real user studies with about 86% accuracy. It will use the funds to expand its dataset and build SAPIENS 2.0.
