About the company

Zeller provides a full set of business financial tools with a focus on zero-cost EFTPOS for in-person payments. It also supports invoicing, online payments, customer data management, expense tracking, and the ability to earn interest on business funds, all accessible from a single dashboard on a freemium model. The product works by enabling businesses to accept payments in person without upfront EFTPOS fees, while revenue comes from transaction charges on EFTPOS and premium features. Unlike some providers, Zeller combines a broad suite of financial tools under one platform, backed by local seven-day-a-week support, dedicated account management, and staff training. The goal is to help small and medium businesses reduce costs and manage their finances more efficiently through an easy-to-use, integrated system.

Zeller wins Fast Company award for payment terminal.

Zeller wins Fast Company award for payment terminal. Wed, 23rd Sep 2026 (Today) Zeller has won Fast Company's Best Design Asia Pacific award for its Zeller Terminal 2 payment device, placing the Melbourne company among the 2026 winners in Fast Company's Innovation by Design programme. The recognition goes to a terminal developed by Zeller's in-house design team in Melbourne. The company said it set out to rethink both the look of payment hardware and how it is sold to merchants. Zeller Terminal 2 is an all-in-one point-of-sale and payments terminal designed in Australia for local businesses. The device combines card payment acceptance with built-in point-of-sale software, allowing merchants to process sales directly on the terminal without paying separately for the software. Businesses can also link it to more than 600 third-party point-of-sale platforms. The award comes as Zeller expands beyond its home market. It now supports more than 110,000 businesses worldwide, and Zeller Terminal 2 is available in Australia and the UK following its launch in Britain earlier this year. Local Design The device was created in Melbourne at a time when payment terminals have largely been treated as standard hardware supplied by larger international providers. Fast Company said the award recognises projects and products that show originality, functionality, sustainability, user insight and business impact. Zeller Terminal 2 is designed for several settings, including countertop sales, self-service kiosks and mobile payments inside venues. It features a 6.5-inch HD touchscreen and supports Wi-Fi, SIM and wired Ethernet connections. One of its more distinctive features is the absence of a built-in printer. Instead, the terminal sends paperless receipts by email, SMS or QR code, removing the need for receipt paper and related consumables, according to Zeller. The company said merchants using the terminal have eliminated more than 54 kilometres of printed receipt paper - enough to wrap around the Melbourne Cricket Ground more than 115 times. Restaurant Rollout The terminal has also been deployed in self-service kiosks across Australia's quick-service restaurant sector. Zeller said the product has been integrated into more than 255 kiosks used by brands including Chatime, Noodle Box, Huxtaburger, Pattysmiths, Greenstreat and Acai Brothers. The rollout points to a broader effort to move into settings where merchants want a single device for taking payments and managing sales. It also gives Zeller a route into higher-volume environments where design, durability and ease of use can influence adoption. Founded in 2020, Zeller provides payment services, invoicing, business accounts, cards and expense management through a single platform. The company has offices in Australia and the UK and positions itself as an alternative to established providers in business banking and merchant payments. Joshua McNicol, Chief Commercial Officer at Zeller, said the award reflected the company's product approach. "Payment terminals are among the most frequently used devices inside a business, yet they have traditionally been designed as functional hardware rather than part of the customer experience. Zeller Terminal 2 was designed in Melbourne to give Australian businesses a product that looks better, works harder and remains affordable. Having that work recognised globally by Fast Company, alongside some of the world's leading design teams, is a proud moment for everyone at Zeller," McNicol said. Fast Company said its Innovation by Design Awards are now in their 15th year. The 2026 programme recognised nearly 312 projects from organisations including Canva, Google and Adidas. Brendan Vaughan, Editor-in-Chief at Fast Company, commented on this year's awards. "The Innovation by Design Awards have always recognised the ideas that challenge convention and show what's possible when design is treated as a strategic force, not an afterthought. Congratulations to this year's honourees, who demonstrate how thoughtful design can solve meaningful problems and create new possibilities for people and businesses," Vaughan said.

What's new at Zeller this july.

What's new at Zeller this july. 5 min. read 15.07.2026 By Team Zeller Key Takeaways * Send secure payment links via SMS, email, or messaging apps, now from Zeller App. * Schedule recurring BPAY payments for bills or subscriptions via Zeller App. * View and download account statements on the go, straight from your phone with Zeller App. * Customise your POS menu layout with Favourites for faster, one-tap sales. * Get sharper sales insights with new Categories and Items reports from Zeller POS. Zeller co has rolled out more features this month to give you new ways to get paid, greater control over your transfers, and better flexibility to run your business on the go. From sending payment links straight from your phone to scheduling recurring BPAY payments and reorganising your POS menu screen, here's everything that's just landed and ready for you to use in your Zeller Account. Send payment links on the go from Zeller App. Taking a payment without your customer in front of you just got easier. Zeller Virtual Terminal lets you create a secure payment link and send it to your customer via SMS, email, or any messaging platform of their choice, and now you can do it all from Zeller App, not just Zeller Dashboard. Your customer opens the link, pays online, and the funds settle to your account like any other payment. Here's how it works: * Open the menu in Zeller App and tap Payment Link, then Take Payment. * Enter the amount, then select the Site and Contact the payment is for. Add a note if you like (it won't be shared with your customer). * Choose how to send it: via SMS, email, or by creating a shareable link to send your own way. You can save the number or email to the contact for next time. * Tap Send Payment Link. Customers can also scan the QR code on shareable links to pay. Once sent, you can track every link from the Payment Link menu. Use the All, Paid, and Unpaid tabs to filter, and tap into any link to see its status, when it was sent and viewed, the site it belongs to, and a full payment breakdown of subtotal, surcharges, and total. For unpaid links, you can resend, copy, or cancel them at any time. Payment Links also offer extra security that a MOTO payment can't: transactions go through Zeller's secure payment page and are protected by 3D Secure, an added identity check with the customer's bank that helps reduce fraud and unauthorised payments. Set BPAY payments to repeat, from the Zeller App. Paying the same bill every month shouldn't mean starting from scratch each time. You can now schedule recurring BPAY payments in the Zeller App, a feature previously only available as a one-off, and on Zeller Dashboard. Scheduled and recurring transfers cut out the manual admin of repeat payments like software subscriptions, bills, council rates, or insurance premiums, reducing the risk of missed payments or late fees. It also gives you more control over aligning payments with your cash flow, and simplifies managing multiple transfers across accounts. A note on BPAY reference numbers: when you set up a recurring BPAY transfer, Zeller automatically checks the type of Customer Reference Number (CRN) used by your biller. Standard CRNs can be scheduled to recur as normal. Billers using Variable or Intelligent CRNs (vCRNs/iCRNs) can't be set up as recurring payments, since these require a different reference number and amount each bill cycle - allowing this would risk failed or incorrect payments. If you hit this, you'll see a clear message explaining why, and you can still make the payment as a one-time instant or scheduled transfer. View and download account statements from Zeller App. Sometimes you need a statement when you're nowhere near a computer. You might be speaking to your accountant or mid-conversation with a landlord or supplier who wants proof of funds before signing off on a lease or a new trade account. You can now pull up an account statement and send it through right from your phone. You can view and download account statements for your Zeller Transaction Accounts directly from the Zeller App. Under Accounts, select the Zeller Transaction Account you need, go to the Manage tab, then select Statements to choose and download the Monthly or Quarterly statement you're after. Customise your menu layout on the Favourites tab in Zeller POS. Speed at the counter matters, especially during a rush. The new Favourites tab in Zeller POS lets you pin your most-used items and categories for one-tap access during a sale, arranged in exactly the order you want. Add individual items, whole categories, or a mix of both, and choose how they're ordered: A to Z, Z to A, or a custom manual order by dragging tiles into place within a four-by-four grid To set Favourites for your whole site: * Go to Settings > Order Settings > Favourites. * Tap Edit and choose the items and categories to feature, then Save to publish. This layout applies to every device at the site in real time. If you'd rather set Favourites for just one device, long-press a tile on the home screen to favourite a category or item for that device only. Understanding what's actually selling is easier with two new report views, joining the existing Summary, Sales, and Sites reports: * Items - get a snapshot of total sales, total items sold, and average items per sale, track your top-selling items over time by revenue or quantity, and export a complete list of every item with its full sales data. Get more visibility and control over your Scheduled and Recurring Transfers. Zeller co has added a set of updates to give you a clearer view of your scheduled and recurring transfers, and more control when your plans change. * See the status of every transfer at a glance. Historical transfers in your Activity tab now show a status pill so you know exactly where things stand: * Processing: the transfer can no longer be skipped or have a skip undone, and is being processed by Zeller's system for execution. Shown from 15 minutes before the scheduled time up until execution. * Completed: - the transfer was successful. * Failed: - the transfer was unsuccessful, for example due to insufficient funds. * Skipped: - the transfer was set to be skipped by an admin user. * Skip a single transfer without cancelling the whole schedule. If you need to pause just one payment within a recurring schedule, you can now trigger a Skip (and Undo Skip if you change your mind) for that specific transfer, leaving the rest of the schedule untouched. Note that one-time scheduled transfers (with no repeat frequency) don't have a Skip option; if you no longer need the payment, simply end the schedule instead. * Keep a full audit trail of your schedules. The Details tab for any schedule now shows every transfer configured as part of it, all historical transactions linked to it, and its unique Schedule ID. You can also see who ended a schedule and on what date, giving you a complete, transparent record for every transfer under your business's control. To end a schedule, go to Edit > End Schedule. Keep the feedback coming. Zeller co is always adding features to make it simpler and smoother to run your business. Keep an eye on your Zeller Dashboard and the Zeller Business Blog for the latest updates. Zeller co'd love to hear your ideas for what Zeller co should build next! Send them to [email protected] and Zeller co'll use them to shape its roadmap. Pay nothing for POS + payments. Get cash back on 100% of card payment fees you transact with Zeller POS and Terminal until 30 August. Terms apply. POS software for how you do business. Aussie fintech unicorn Zeller expands to UK to challenge legacy payment providers

Australian fintech unicorn Zeller has launched in the UK, marking its first international expansion since its 2020 founding. The Melbourne-based business payment and financial solutions platform achieved a $1 billion valuation following a 2022 funding round. The UK expansion puts Zeller in competition with numerous legacy institutions, challenger banks and established fintechs. However, co-founder and CEO Ben Pfisterer claims to see opportunity in the market, citing unreliable and costly payment hardware from legacy providers, along with lengthy onboarding processes. "The UK is one of the world's most advanced fintech markets," said Pfisterer, noting the market is four times the size of Australia. The company aims to offer merchants a more affordable way to manage payments and business finances.
