Requirements
  • At least 7 years of experience in digital journalism, including a demonstrated track record of working with artificial intelligence and emerging platforms.
  • In-depth knowledge of the search landscape, including artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to drive work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills.
Responsibilities
  • Identify new surfaces, features, or platforms for distributing journalism, experiment with programming strategies, and report on the results.
  • Advise the newsroom alongside the Partnerships team when assessing potential agreements with artificial intelligence companies, ensuring use of journalism on external platforms aligns with editorial values, newsroom priorities, and audience goals.
  • Provide regular insights to leadership on how artificial intelligence discovery is affecting the traditional audience funnel and which audience strategies can shape that funnel.
  • Stand up ad hoc projects with the Platform Partnerships team and Legal for major tentpole events and special projects intended to appear on external artificial intelligence surfaces.
  • Regularly report on how The New York Times and other news organizations appear in queries.
  • Oversee strategic audience partnerships with artificial intelligence platforms and ad hoc projects for major tentpole events and special projects.
  • Identify and manage vendors capable of tracking the organization's presence on artificial intelligence platforms in partnership with the technical search engine optimization and data teams.
  • Demonstrate support for journalistic independence and commitment to the organization's mission.
