About the Job

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in electrical power systems in utility, industrial, data center, manufacturing, or mission-critical facilities, with direct ownership of medium-voltage distribution and backup power.
  • Demonstrated experience taking projects from load study through utility interconnection to energization, including at least one multi-megawatt-scale project.
  • Working fluency with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70E, NFPA 110, IEEE standards, and associated arc flash, short circuit, and coordination studies.
  • Track record negotiating directly with utilities on service, tariffs, line extensions, and schedules.
  • Ability to build and defend a load model covering equipment lists, duty cycles, diversity, growth allowance, and underlying assumptions.
  • Experience partnering with facilities or operations teams on preventive maintenance programs, computerized maintenance management system implementation, and electrical asset reliability standards.
  • Ability to operate as the sole owner of a domain, set standards, drive alignment across design, construction, and operations, and be accountable for outcomes.
  • Willingness to travel to sites across the United States as projects require.
  • U.S. Person status as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.62).

Responsibilities

  • Own the power narrative for each new site and expansion, from site-selection diligence through design development, permit set, and commissioning.
  • Right-size user demand by building load models grounded in actual equipment lists, duty cycles, and diversity factors, and defend those numbers to designers, utilities, and finance.
  • Set grid interconnection strategy, including service voltage and configuration, primary versus secondary metering, transformer and switchgear sizing, and staging plans for early occupancy and later scaling.
  • Define backup and resiliency architecture, including generators, uninterruptible power supplies, battery storage, paralleling and transfer schemes, and N+1 decisions, based on which loads must ride through an outage.
  • Evaluate on-site generation and microgrid options that may shorten schedules, lower costs, or reduce utility dependence.
  • Review electrical design packages from architect/engineer partners and identify sizing, selective coordination, and maintainability problems while they are still drawings.
  • Build cost and schedule inputs for power scope in capital plans and flag power-driven schedule risks early.
  • Partner with Facilities to translate new systems into preventive maintenance programs, including tasks, intervals, spares, and vendor service agreements, entered into the computerized maintenance management system before turnover.
  • Own electrical infrastructure reliability standards across sites, including infrared scanning, breaker and relay testing, generator and automatic transfer switch exercise regimes, battery and uninterruptible power supply maintenance, arc flash studies, and label currency.
  • Establish power monitoring and metering standards to make site-level load growth, power quality, and capacity headroom visible.
  • Lead root cause analysis on power events and drive corrective actions to closure across design, vendors, and operations.
  • Develop commissioning and turnover requirements for Facilities, including documentation, training, sequences of operation, and as-built records.
  • Build playbooks, standards, and basis-of-design documents so the work can be repeated at future sites.
  • Serve as Anduril’s connection to the industry, understand alternative energy strategy direction, and drive strategic plans for test and proof-of-concept efforts related to new solutions.
  • Serve as the primary relationship owner with investor-owned utilities, municipal utilities, and cooperatives across the U.S. portfolio.
  • Find ways to fast-track utility work, including phased or temporary service, customer-furnished long-lead equipment, contractor-of-choice and self-perform arrangements, construction cost advances, and early-works agreements that begin civil scope ahead of the full service agreement.
  • Negotiate line extension agreements, service contracts, rate schedules, and cost allocations, and understand tariffs to identify what is negotiable.
  • Manage interconnection applications and queue position, and keep energization dates accurate and visible to project teams.
  • Track state, federal, and utility incentive, rebate, and economic development programs, and incorporate applicable programs into the capital plan.
  • Build durable relationships with utility planning and engineering staff so Anduril is a customer they want to solve for.

Desired Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer license in electrical engineering, or equivalent depth without the license.
  • Prior experience inside a utility in distribution planning, key accounts, or service engineering.
  • Experience with on-site generation, battery energy storage, or microgrid design and controls.
  • Familiarity with high-growth manufacturing environments where power demand changes faster than the plan of record.
  • Experience with supervisory control and data acquisition, power monitoring platforms, or building management system integration.
  • Exposure to secure or classified facility requirements.

About the Company

Anduril

Builds autonomous weapons for the US and allies

Anduril builds autonomous weapons, such as drones, cruise missiles, and robot submarines, for the US military and its allies, often developing them with its own money before any order arrives. In 2024 it beat Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman for an Air Force contract to develop Fury, a pilotless jet that flies alongside crewed fighters. Its Lattice software merges camera and radar feeds into one live map and lets a few operators direct many drones and weapons at once, including other companies' systems. Governments buy its systems under contract, and Anduril builds much of the hardware in its own factories. Oculus founder Palmer Luckey co-founded Anduril in 2017, and it is based in Costa Mesa, California.
