Requirements
  • At least 3 years of experience leading a logistics team or comparable experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to anticipate and solve problems.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with data-entry and inventory software and systems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English and Spanish is strongly preferred due to workforce composition and cross-shift coordination.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Warehouse Manager with hiring and training new employees.
  • Schedule and oversee warehouse staff.
  • Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations.
  • Lead and develop company employees.
  • Provide training, monitor employee performance, and remain accessible across the dock and yard.
  • Coach and counsel employees on performance and development, and document performance-related material.
  • Plan daily manpower needs to ensure customer freight is delivered and picked up timely and damage-free.
  • Communicate with Linehaul, dispatch at various terminals, and dock employees to coordinate trailer and freight movement.
  • Develop a plan for distributing break loads to achieve goals.
  • Monitor service freight and ensure Linehaul compliance.
  • Monitor and analyze opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiencies.
  • Assist customers with rate quotes, claim information, and appointment setting.
  • Perform required administrative functions.
  • Monitor actual performance data and gather information for reporting.
  • Communicate with Account Managers to meet customer and company needs.
  • Ensure all OS&D is identified and processed properly.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings.
  • Implement company policy.
  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations and company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure employees are trained on and follow safety protocols.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Provide personal protective equipment and ensure it is used correctly.
  • Maintain clear and accessible emergency exits and equipment.
  • Implement and enforce proper lifting techniques and ergonomics.
  • Report and document accidents or incidents immediately.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and drills.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
  • Promote a culture of safety in which employees can raise safety concerns.
