Requirements
  • Coursework in Mathematics, Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry, or Physics as specified by the task order.
  • For Undergraduate Student 2, junior- or senior-level standing, experience with 50% of the task requirements, and ability to accomplish 50% of the work independently.
  • For Undergraduate Student 3, senior-level standing, experience with 100% of the task requirements, and ability to accomplish 90% of the work independently.
  • Introduction to Chemistry, Biology, or equivalent coursework or experience.
  • Computer Science and Object-Oriented Programming or equivalent.
  • Probability and Statistics or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • California residency within a commutable distance from San Diego State University at the time of hire.
  • Ability to work 20 hours per week in this student position.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare satellite, buoy, and industrial or municipal spatiotemporal data for analysis.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis and generate data visualizations.
  • Create data dictionaries, analysis reports, and slide decks of results.
  • Assist with coding and testing or debugging a machine learning pipeline.
  • Prepare monthly status reports and bi-weekly time reports in accordance with the basic contract Contract Data Requirements List.
  • Conduct relevant literature searches pertaining to the acceptance and execution of Model Based Systems Engineering practices.
  • Submit monthly status reports in accordance with the base contract.
Desired Qualifications
  • Introduction to Environmental Science, Oceanography, or equivalent coursework or relevant work or laboratory experience.
  • Data Structures, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, or equivalent coursework or relevant work or laboratory experience.
  • Computer Vision, Deep Learning, or equivalent coursework or relevant work or laboratory experience.
  • Python programming experience.
  • Experience with convolutional neural networks or machine learning.
  • Experience with geographic information system software.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal oversight.
