Responsibilities
  • Technically supervise managed tools and monitor their health, performance, and resource consumption, including CPU, memory, storage, and network flows.
  • Plan and execute regular patching, configuration changes, and version upgrades for server nodes, agents, extensions, and other components.
  • Manage user access, roles, and permissions across platforms in accordance with IT security policies and licensing requirements.
  • Monitor license utilization and manage capacity planning for all tools.
  • Design, implement, and maintain interfaces and integrations between monitoring, testing, and operations tools.
  • Implement procedures and tools for cross-tool data correlation so Operations can trace infrastructure alerts to application impact and corresponding test cases.
  • Standardize metrics and build unified dashboards and reports providing a global view of system health and quality.
  • Administer and optimize application observability deployments and configurations, including monitoring rules, baselines, and synthetic and real-user monitoring.
  • Supervise infrastructure monitoring coverage for servers, network devices, and databases; manage host enrollment and template development and route critical alerts appropriately.
  • Configure, tune, and manage alerting thresholds and notification channels to reduce alert noise and ensure prompt response to critical events.
  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support and act as the internal subject matter expert and technical escalation point for managed-tool issues.
  • Assist SRE, DevOps, and development teams with root-cause analysis during critical incidents using monitoring data.
  • Provide operational support to quality assurance and performance engineering teams for test execution and environment configuration.
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures, runbooks, architectural diagrams, and configuration documentation for tools and interfaces.
  • Conduct internal workshops and training sessions on effective use of the managed tool stack and its new features.

Airbus A350F freighter completes maiden flight with 4.3m cargo door for servers

Airbus has successfully completed the first flight of its A350F freighter, bringing the aerospace giant closer to delivering a high-capacity cargo aircraft. The plane took off from Airbus headquarters in Toulouse, France, flying for four hours and ten minutes and reaching 25,000 feet. The A350F can carry a payload of 109 tonnes, compared to 64 tonnes for the existing A330F. It features a 4.3-metre cargo door large enough to accommodate turbofan engines and high-density computer servers. Airbus claims the A350F is more efficient than Boeing's rival 777F, despite having slightly less capacity. The company has already received orders for 115 A350Fs. A second test aircraft is nearly complete as Airbus begins the certification process requiring hundreds of test flights.

Airbus and Qantas back $30M funding for Australian SAF developer Jet Zero

Jet Zero Australia has raised $30 million to advance Project Ulysses, a commercial-scale sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel refinery in Townsville. The funding round was backed by institutional investors including Qantas and Airbus, both returning investors from 2023. South Korean company Posco International joined as a new strategic investor, with the parties exploring opportunities in fuel offtake, infrastructure and feedstock. The capital will fund completion of Front-End Engineering Design and support the project's progress towards Final Investment Decision and construction. Founded in 2021 by Ed Mason, Jet Zero develops biofuels production capacity in regional Australia. The project has received its final Development Permit Decision Notice from Queensland's Office of the Coordinator-General. It is expected to create approximately 1,000 construction jobs and 100 permanent operational roles.

Airbus shelves stricter office return plan after Spanish union strikes

Airbus has postponed its plan to reduce remote working after strikes by Spanish unions, Reuters reports. The aerospace manufacturer will allow employees to continue working from home an average of two days per week, shelving indefinitely a push to limit remote work to one day. Chief Executive Guillaume Faury had sought to require white-collar staff on-site four days weekly by September, citing the need for knowledge transfer. Spanish unions said roughly 40% of Airbus's 14,000 Spanish employees have walked out over remote work policies, transport, leave and wages. An Airbus spokesperson said the company would implement the transition "more gradually" based on employee feedback. French unions estimate a quarter to a third of Airbus's workforce has been hired in the past three years. Aircraft production has not been affected by the disruptions.
