Requirements
  • A doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution with academic qualifications in an area aligned with the mission and offerings of the Department of Marriage and Family Sciences is required.
  • Professional identity as a couple, marriage, and family therapist.
  • Experience teaching, working with, and mentoring diverse students is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in graduate-level coursework and clinical training is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using technology for education delivery and online teaching experience are preferred.
  • Curriculum development experience is preferred.
  • Experience working in a technology-driven enterprise is preferred.
  • Graduation from a Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education accredited program is strongly preferred.
  • An American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy Clinical Fellow and Approved Supervisor credential is desirable.
Responsibilities
  • Teach graduate courses within the assigned programmatic core discipline, including master's and/or doctoral courses in the Department of Marriage and Family Sciences.
  • Engage students, provide feedback, and support students in achieving course and program outcomes.
  • Develop and pursue a proposal for professional scholarship and growth opportunities.
  • Promote a graduate culture of scholarship, teaching, service, and practice.
  • Use the NU One-to-One apprenticeship-style teaching model and engage students through teaching.
  • Participate in research and scholarship opportunities consistent with the teaching load and department expectations.
  • Pursue appropriate opportunities for service to the profession.
  • Engage in relevant professional practice activities consistent with the teaching load and department expectations.
  • Participate in initial and ongoing training.
  • Trial and integrate new technologies into teaching.
  • Participate in school-specific and university postdoctoral networking meetings.
  • Maintain contact with students by phone, video conferencing, and email throughout courses.
  • Collaborate with Academic and Finance Advisors to support student engagement and success.
  • Exercise academic freedom in teaching course content and achieving learning outcomes in accordance with university policies, procedures, and curricula.
  • Participate in program and student assessment procedures.
  • Perform educational services in accordance with National University policies and procedures, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, the university Code of Conduct, and applicable state and federal laws.
  • Complete tasks and projects assigned by the Dean or university administrators.
  • Maintain reasonable and consistent attendance to fulfill position requirements.
