Requirements
  • Thorough knowledge and experience using short-term, solution-focused counseling techniques.
  • Working knowledge of relevant military, state, federal, and local laws and resources.
  • A thorough understanding of the military lifestyle and experience working with military family members.
  • Ability to understand, apply, and maintain professional standards.
  • Highly developed written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Proficiency in iPhone, iPad, and other Apple technology and products.
  • Independent-practice licensure, such as LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LCPC, or LMHC.
  • A master's degree from an accredited graduate program in a mental health-related field.
  • Ability to pass all background and suitability checks, including CNACI security clearance.
  • Fluency in English.
  • A valid driver's license and ability to travel locally as needed.
  • Willingness to travel 10% of the time.
Responsibilities
  • Provide face-to-face, short-term, non-medical counseling to military service members and their families.
  • Make appropriate referrals and handoffs to military and community resources as needed.
  • Use approved training and materials to provide presentations and briefings to individuals and groups.
  • Provide referral resources to participants who need a greater level of care or are not eligible for the MFLC program.
  • Provide outreach services to parents and installation command staff.
  • Communicate information regarding trends and issues at the assigned installation to supervisors.
  • Participate in regular in-service training, quality improvement committees, and other contract activities as assigned.
  • Submit activity forms daily to document eight hours of direct daily contact.
  • Report time daily for the employer and government.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with the Military and Family Life Counseling program.
  • Bilingual ability in Spanish.
  • Ability to interact with military members during routine unit activities, such as physical training and military exercises.
