Requirements
  • Two years of previous operating room technician or central supply technician experience, including appropriate certification, are required.
  • Previous surgical instrumentation and equipment decontamination and sterilization experience, with familiarity with various instrument sterilization methods, is required.
  • Candidates must possess customer service skills, initiative, the ability to take independent action, and the ability to establish and maintain working relationships.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Candidates must hold CSP certification, specifically CRCST or CBSPD certification.
  • Candidates must maintain certification.
Responsibilities
  • Wash, inspect, package, and sterilize instruments and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate monitoring records.
  • Use and interpret chemical and biological indicators.
  • Clean all sterilization equipment appropriately.
  • Assist operating room personnel in locating and reprocessing instruments.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Follow established policies and procedures.
  • Communicate openly with internal customers and supervisors.
  • Provide customer service while interfacing with staff, management, and physicians.
