Security Guard
About the job
- A high school diploma is required.
- A New York State Security Guard License is required.
- Previous security guard experience is preferred, preferably in a school environment.
- Strong written, grammatical, and communication skills are required.
- Patrol hallways, main entrances, and recreation areas, and provide supervision as needed.
- Provide supervision for bus areas during arrival and dismissal times.
- Check the perimeter to prevent unauthorized access, ensure doors are locked, and identify potentially harmful activity.
- Check the functioning of the security system.
- Check first-floor restrooms.
- Direct visitors at the main entrance and verify that visitors have signed in.
- Control building access and respond to alarms.
- Alert administrators to problems arising from congestion or other sources.
- Ensure the safety and welfare of all students during admission and dismissal.
- Interact with students, parents, and colleagues in a professional, positive, and inspiring manner.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
- Previous security guard experience, preferably in a school environment.
