Requirements
  • A Master's degree in a related field of counseling, psychology, sociology, or social work.
  • Two years of supervisory experience in a mental health setting.
  • At least two years of experience in crisis services.
  • A valid Tennessee driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle report.
  • An acceptable criminal background investigation.
  • Personal automobile insurance and a cell phone.
  • An “F” endorsement.
  • Ability to lead by example, make sound decisions quickly, motivate staff, and identify team strengths and weaknesses and develop solutions.
  • Ability to delegate tasks and share responsibility and accountability.
  • Ability to assist teammates and maintain a productive team climate.
  • Ability to find common ground and solve problems for the good of the team.

  • Ability to use the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS) and conduct suicide-specific crisis assessments.
  • Ability to determine appropriate clinical dispositions for crisis assessments using clinically based rationale.
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate care professionally and completely during crisis assessments.
  • Ability to appropriately use therapeutic options, de-escalation, and restraint behaviors, and to apply safe-room and restraint procedures.
  • Ability to participate actively in crisis assessment consultations and respond to crisis triages within two hours.
  • Ability to complete referrals to treatment, clinical documentation, and Crisis Management System documentation within specified time periods.
  • Ability to work independently to make critical decisions and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to use less restrictive alternatives appropriately to address consumer needs.
  • Evidence-informed practice related to substance use disorders and clinical care of children and youth.
  • Ability to meet the stated physical demands, including occasionally lifting or moving up to 15 pounds, and to perform the job in a usually moderate-noise environment.
Responsibilities
  • Support Mobile Crisis Response Team staff through proactive brainstorming and problem-solving on immediate situations and future concerns.
  • Keep Crisis Counselors informed of current policies and procedures.
  • Ensure least restrictive options are used when determining crisis-call dispositions.
  • Provide crisis training for new and current employees.
  • Assist in organizing and directing staff meetings.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with community agencies and conduct information meetings for them as needed.
  • Assist the Program Director and Program Manager in developing strategic plans for the Mobile Crisis Response Team.
  • Assist in developing and updating policies and procedures for Mobile Crisis Response Team activities.
  • Attend to staffing hiring needs for the Mobile Crisis Response Team.
  • Attend and participate in staff and supervisors’ meetings.
  • Monitor the quality of crisis assessments daily and encourage performance adjustments as needed.
  • Provide documented clinical supervision in group or individual formats at the frequency designated by Mental Health Cooperative.
  • Consult with Triage Counselors on incoming calls and assist with assessments as needed.
  • Review hospital referrals and provide a written report to Urgicare consultants daily.
  • Provide field supervision with crisis staff twice monthly.
  • Oversee paid-time-off scheduling for the Mobile Crisis Response Team and ensure adequate shift coverage.
  • Perform Crisis Counselor and Triage Counselor duties as needed.
  • Attend mandatory in-services, continuing education, and annual health requirements.
  • Comply with corporate compliance policies, practices, and procedures, and report unethical activities through the designated channels.
  • Comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration and other safety policies and report unsafe practices or accidents.
  • Protect consumers’ protected health information in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.
  • Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Provide leadership through example and sharing knowledge and skills, and follow agency policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
