The Opportunity

DAT's rate data is the reference price for truckload freight, and brokers, shippers, and carriers price against it every day. DAT iQ is the analytics product suite built on that position. Holding that position takes a leader who can sit with a brokerage's pricing team and explain how our rates are built. That leader owns the DAT iQ portfolio and the teams behind it, and partners with our broker and shipper leadership on where analytics takes the business.

Reports to the Chief Technology Officer.

What You’ll Do

Lead the DAT iQ product and engineering organization. Develop the product managers and engineering leaders who report to you, hire against the gaps, and set the standard for how the group operates.
Strengthen the product management practice. Raise the bar on how this team does discovery, decides what to build, defines success before it ships, and measures adoption after. Own the roadmap and the prioritization that produces it.
Own delivery and product quality. Our customers price freight against these numbers every day, so accuracy, latency, and reliability are the product. Carry accountability for what ships, when it ships, and how it performs in production.
Set the analytics strategy and deliver against it. Define how we extend and defend our data advantage, and translate that into an architecture and a roadmap the business can commit to.
Turn models into products. Partner with our data science organization to take forecasting and rate models from research into production, and own the engineering that makes them dependable at scale.
Serve as the analytics partner to our segment leadership. Own the products and data their plans depend on, and determine where the portfolio leans when broker and shipper priorities diverge.
Be in front of customers. Spend real time with brokers and shippers in their own operations, represent DAT iQ at industry events, and turn what you hear from our customer advisory forums into portfolio decisions.
Own how analytics is packaged and priced. Work through metering and packaging with our commercial and pricing teams as the portfolio evolves

The Skills and Experience You’ll Bring

Leadership of product and engineering organizations. You have led both functions together, developed managers and senior individual contributors, and hired well at that level. You give a team strategic and organizational direction without absorbing their work.
Delivery discipline. You have a record of predictable delivery and durable production quality, and you can say what you measure to know whether a team is healthy and why those are the right measures.
Product management depth. You have built or materially raised a product management practice: discovery, prioritization, defining success before launch, and measuring adoption after.
Freight market expertise. You understand how the truckload spot and contract markets operate: how capacity moves, why lanes behave differently, what bid season does to pricing, and how a broker decides what to accept.
Fluency with data and models. You have built or governed rate or forecasting models. Building them yourself is not required, but you can judge whether one is ready for production and hold a substantive conversation about sampling, coverage, latency, and revision behavior.
Sustained customer engagement. You have owned direct relationships with customers over years, meeting them in their own operations and bringing what you learned back into product and market decisions.
Commercial judgment. You understand how a brokerage makes money and where a number changes a margin decision, and you can reason through how analytics is metered, packaged, and priced as a portfolio matures.
Influence across the business. You can write a strategy that holds up in front of a leadership team, work with segment leaders whose plans compete with each other, and hold a standard with senior peers without taking over their decisions.

For Washington-based candidates, in compliance with the Washington State Pay Transparency Law, the salary range for this role is $303,372-$407,060 + target bonus. DAT considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education and training, core skills, internal equity, and market and business elements when extending an offer.

Reading Time: < 1 minute PORTLAND, Ore. - DAT Freight & Analytics is announcing Load Recommendations, a new feature in the DAT One mobile app that displays a curated set of loads most likely to fit a carrier's truck, lanes, and operating preferences. "Finding the right load takes time, and for carriers, that time is unpaid," said Bill Driegert, executive vice president at DAT. "Load Recommendations now brings their most desirable loads to them quickly, so carriers can spend less time hunting and more time hauling." Instead of scrolling through every available load and filtering manually, carriers open the app and see their top opportunities the moment they sign in, with no setup required. How it works. Load Recommendations draws on several factors, including the carrier's equipment types, the lanes they typically run, and how they search for freight and engage with the DAT One marketplace. Then the app prioritizes loads that fit the carrier's operating pattern and automatically brings them forward. Recommendations refresh regularly and become more tailored as the carrier uses the app. Built for the mobile-first trucker. "For carriers who run their business from the cab, Load Recommendations delivers a tighter, more relevant set of loads to review at the start of each session; less time spent filtering, comparing and calling on covered freight; and better-aligned routing as the system learns their preferences over time," DAT said. The key may be building connections with more visibility into freight and capacity, and more trust. DAT Freight & Analytics last week introduced new features to its Convoy freight-matching platform to help carriers identify backhaul opportunities. Convoy's "reloads" feature has been expanded to give truckers visibility into backhauls earlier when booking freight. Ken Adamo of EASE Logistics says rising enforcement, legal risk and seasonal pressures may push trucking rates higher heading into summer. · Tuesday, May 19, 2026 The domestic freight market is showing renewed signs of tightening as trucking companies navigate rising enforcement activity, volatile diesel prices, broker liability concerns and the start of the summer shipping season. Ken Adamo, who recently joined EASE Logistics as chief strategy officer, said Roadcheck Week enforcement activity last week pushed spot rates higher and heightened shipper concerns about securing capacity. "We saw enforcement levels tick up considerably," Adamo said during an interview with FreightWaves. "As a market that's already sort of short on capacity in the near term, it definitely pushed rates upwards. We felt that pressure here at EASE, for sure, in our buy rates and shipper nervousness for capacity." Ohio-based EASE Logistics is a multi-operational supply chain and transportation solutions provider. Prior to joining EASE Logistics, Adamo served in leadership roles at DAT Freight & Analytics and FedEx. The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance's annual International Roadcheck inspection blitz often sidelines trucks temporarily as carriers seek to avoid inspection delays or potential out-of-service violations. Adamo said even compliant carriers sometimes choose to pause operations during enforcement week to avoid disruptions. The tighter conditions come as freight demand enters the pre-Memorial Day shipping surge and as trucking markets continue reacting to a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling involving broker liability. Supreme Court ruling could reshape brokerage sector. Adamo said the ruling is expected to increase pressure on freight brokers to strengthen carrier vetting and compliance procedures, particularly around safety and insurance standards. "I think for sure it's inflationary for rates," Adamo said. "I think there's a lot of brokers chatting with their insurance carriers this week and putting a plan in place." Adamo said brokers are increasingly competing for carriers with longer operating histories and stronger safety records, which is widening pricing differences across the carrier market. "You tend to see stratification within the carrier population," Adamo said. "These longer age-of-authority, higher-quality carriers were more expensive to begin with, and now they're just becoming even more expensive." He added that the ruling could eventually lead to more consolidation across the brokerage industry, particularly among smaller operators unable to absorb rising legal and insurance risks. Fuel prices, storms remain key freight market risks. Adamo said elevated diesel prices continue to pressure trucking operations and are causing some freight to shift toward intermodal rail, although service requirements are limiting broader modal conversions. "Anytime there's a fuel spike, you tend to see more intermodal," Adamo said. "There's still a pressure to keep delivery timelines, which becomes trickier when you mode shift over to intermodal." Looking ahead, Adamo said weather-related disruptions, including a potentially active hurricane season along the Gulf Coast, could further tighten trucking capacity later this year. "If we get a couple of tropical storms this summer that whack mainland U.S., I think it could keep things hairy for the rest of the year," Adamo said. He said many shippers entered 2026 expecting mid-single-digit contract rate increases but are now budgeting for increases in the low double digits amid tightening capacity and rising operational risk.
