About the job
- An associate degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Administration, Gerontology, or another course of study related to service to the elderly is preferred.
- One to three years of experience in senior living or skilled nursing activity and event planning, which may include moderate-to-large event planning outside the senior living industry.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities are required.
- Knowledge and experience in the assisted living industry and dementia care are preferred.
- Ability to meet the stated physical requirements, including standing or walking, sitting, driving, assisting or supporting residents, lifting or carrying items, repetitive hand use, and frequently bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing.
- Develop, lead, and oversee a resident-centered activities and outreach program that integrates the senior living philosophy and promotes wellness across emotional, purpose, physical, social, intellectual, and spiritual dimensions.
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training the Assistant Program and Outreach Director.
- Participate in Personalized Service Plans.
- Refer to the Resident Profile and addendum for every new resident.
- Ensure appropriate, personalized activities are available throughout the day and evening, incorporate all dimensions of wellness, and include resident care associate participation.
- Maintain the activity and program guidebook, tracking daily which residents show interest in and participate in activities.
- Use resident demographic profile information to organize small groups or clubs addressing shared needs and preferences.
- Recognize changes in residents’ conditions and take appropriate action.
- Assist residents to and from activity rooms when necessary.
- In memory care, assist residents to and from Life Skills and other normalizing, life-enriching activities and routines, and assist with engagement.
- Assist in maintaining an inventory of activity and programming supplies, games, programs, and crafts.
- Schedule, communicate, assist with facilitating, and record the monthly resident council.
- Knowledge and experience in the assisted living industry and dementia care.
