  • Strong software engineering skills and proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, or Go, with experience designing and implementing production-quality systems, tooling, and automation.
  • Ability to understand and reason about complex application architectures spanning multiple technologies, services, dependencies, and infrastructure layers.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems and cloud infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, data technologies, and containerized environments.
  • Experience using observability and telemetry, including metrics, logs, and performance data, to understand system behavior, resource utilization, and operational characteristics.
  • Ability to translate complex technical problems and system behavior into scalable engineering solutions.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
  • Partner closely with engineering teams to understand complex application architectures, dependencies, workload characteristics, operational requirements, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Develop a deep understanding of service infrastructure consumption across compute, storage, data, network, observability, and other platform resources, and translate it into measurable resource requirements that evolve with application architecture, workload, and business needs.
  • Develop scalable engineering solutions, tooling, and automation to provide visibility into resource consumption, validate capacity requirements, identify capacity risks and efficiency opportunities, and establish safeguards for effective infrastructure management.
  • Identify and drive software, configuration, architectural, and operational improvements that increase system efficiency while preserving reliability, performance, and scalability.
  • Establish repeatable methodologies, engineering practices, and standards for resource demand modeling, capacity management, and infrastructure efficiency across diverse applications and workloads.
  • Collaborate across application engineering, infrastructure, site reliability engineering, capacity planning, finance, business partners, and leadership to align resource requirements and technical solutions, and articulate the business impact and tradeoffs of infrastructure decisions and capacity constraints.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with infrastructure capacity planning, demand forecasting, and resource management, including connecting application and business demand to infrastructure requirements.
  • Experience developing scalable capacity, forecasting, optimization, or resource intelligence solutions for large-scale infrastructure environments.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native architectures, distributed data systems, traffic management, and large-scale service platforms.
  • Understanding of FinOps and infrastructure business operations, including cost management, procurement, data center capacity, cloud billing, and financial planning.
  • Experience applying generative artificial intelligence, large language models, or other emerging technologies to build intelligent automation, derive insights from complex systems, and improve engineering workflows at scale.
  • Experience with performance and efficiency engineering across application and infrastructure layers, including identifying architectural, configuration, and operational optimization opportunities.
  • Ability to define technical standards and methodologies, communicate complex technical concepts, and influence technical direction across engineering and organizational boundaries.

Binance's Zhao says $1,999 iPhone Duo will go "unhinged" with crypto traders

Apple released its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, last week. Binance cofounder Changpeng Zhao predicts crypto traders will use it heavily, saying many iPhones will be "unhinged" by "crypto trenchers." The Duo's 7.6-inch inner display is the largest on any iPhone. It makes long-term price charts for assets like Bitcoin, Ether, and XRP easier to read than on a narrow screen. Last month, Zhao shared a screenshot of a BNB/USDT trading pair on Binance and said the "Duo is pretty good for charting." Binance said in June that it has more than 300 million registered users. The 256GB Duo costs $1,999 in the US.

Apple enters smart home with LG and Schneider Electric devices and $299 HomeView display

Apple is expanding into the smart home with the Apple Home Collection, a range of cameras, thermostats, sensors, a video doorbell, and a smart lock made with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. Products start arriving in December, with more due in early 2027. Apple controls setup, software, AI, privacy, and the Home app, while its partners build the hardware. LG prices start at $199.95 for an interior camera and thermostat, and Schneider Electric sensors start at $39.95. Apple's own $299 HomeView is a seven-inch smart display that uses Siri AI to recognise up to six household members. It goes on sale November 13, against Google's $229 Nest Hub Max. Apple says it keeps camera video and personal data private from itself, LG, and Schneider Electric.
