The position requires working in wet surroundings and high temperatures constantly, and around loud noise, low temperatures, and outdoors very frequently; hazardous machinery, low noise, cluttered floor areas, and poor ventilation frequently; and occasionally at night, indoors, and around dust or fumes.
Responsibilities
Assist with installation and maintenance of all meter sets.
Respond first to emergency natural gas calls during regular working hours.
Perform scheduled on-call duties after hours.
Assist with building and grounds maintenance.
Assist with installation of mains and services.
Assist with installation and maintenance of automated meter reading systems.
Assist with maintenance of natural gas regulator stations.
Assist with maintenance of the compressed natural gas station.
Exchange meters and regulators and complete related clerical work.
Complete natural gas trouble reports and Cityworks work orders.
Spot natural gas mains and service lines.
Make minor repairs to natural gas mains and services, including repairing broken lines and wrapping mains.
Assist with repairs to natural gas meters and regulators.
Help prevent atmospheric corrosion by painting meters and above-ground piping.
Description
This employee is responsible for the assisting installation and maintenance of the City’s natural gas system.
Assist in the installation and maintenance of all meter sets.
First responder to emergency natural gas calls during regular working hours.
Performs on-call duties after hours as scheduled.
Assist in the maintenance of building and grounds.
Assist in the installation on mains and services.
Assist in the installation and maintenance of AMR’s.
Assist in the maintenance of Natural Gas regulator stations.
Assist in the maintenance of the CNG station.
Makes meter exchanges/regulators and completes clerical work for same.
Completes natural gas trouble reports and Cityworks work orders.
Handles spotting Natural gas mains and service lines.
Makes minor repairs to natural gas mains and service (repair of broken lines, wrapping natural gas mains, etc.).
Assist in the repairs of natural gas meters and regulators.
Assist in preventing atmospheric corrosion with painting of meters and above ground piping.
Requirements
Knowledge and Skills
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must have good written and oral communication skills
Must be able to complete the operator qualifications that is mandated by the Georgia Public Service Commission
