Requirements
  • A high school diploma is required.
  • Three to five years of related experience or training is required.
  • The position requires understanding and application of food safety and quality audits, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points, Critical Control Points, Ready-to-Eat foods, primary packaging, Environmental Monitoring Programs, swabbing protocols, corrective actions, trending, and documentation.
  • The position requires the ability to work overtime and weekends as needed, work rotating shifts, and work safely in a production environment with moving equipment and people.
  • The position requires effective written, verbal, and electronic communication, accurate recordkeeping, basic arithmetic, problem-solving in standardized situations, report writing, computer functions related to the job, and reading and writing English.
  • The position requires the ability to work independently or with minimal supervision, manage detailed tasks under tight deadlines, and maintain effective working relationships.
Responsibilities
  • Perform regular food safety and quality audits for Open Foods and Closed Foods production lines within the HACCP flow process.
  • Train Quality Team members in their functions and line audits according to customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the distribution of workload for the Quality Team.
  • Follow, train, and enforce company processes and procedures.
  • Perform Environmental Monitoring Program activities, including swabbing protocols, corrective actions, trending, and documentation of results.
  • Print or coordinate the printing of code dates and distribute them for the shift as necessary.
  • Perform investigations to help determine root causes for production variances, HACCP deviations, and Environmental Monitoring Program results.
  • Document, control, and contain non-conforming inbound food, packaging, and finished food according to food safety and quality regulations or customer specifications.
  • Verify work packets, line checks, and quality assurance documentation based on customer specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare, submit, and ship samples and paperwork to outside laboratories and customers as necessary.
  • Coordinate ordering of quality assurance supplies, laboratory supplies, environmental swabs, ATP swabs, and allergen swabs.
  • Sign off on HACCP documentation daily.
  • Coordinate the rework process with the Operations team and ensure procedures are documented and executed properly, both systematically and physically.
  • Provide coverage in the absence of the Quality Assurance Supervisor to ensure adequate resources are available to achieve food safety objectives and support development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the SQF system.
Desired Qualifications
  • Some college, completion of an associate's or bachelor's degree, or training in Quality and Food Science is desired.
  • HACCP and Environmental certifications are desired.
  • Five or more years of experience is desired.
  • Experience working in a team and communicating with a wide variety of roles is desired.
