Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Aerospace Engineering, or Physics is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of combined engineering experience is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience and technical leadership is required.
  • Experience growing and scaling high-performing engineering teams is required.
  • The ability to partner with outside resources to achieve budget and project objectives is required.
  • The ability to work with highly technical products at a global level of support is required.
  • The ability to lead and organize cross-functional meetings and teams professionally is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills, are required.
  • Good listening skills and receptiveness to others’ ideas are required.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and motivate department team members so that new product development projects meet defined objectives and team members develop competencies within the Mechanical Engineering Center of Excellence.
  • Hire and develop Mechanical Engineers.
  • Monitor the quality of engineering solutions and continuously improve team effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Work with teams and key component vendors to create or review system architectures that support sustained growth.
  • Coordinate with product management personnel to ensure designated products comply with quality, schedule, and cost targets.
  • Establish and manage New Product Development expense and capital budgets.
  • Maintain a long-term capital plan for visibility into major capital needs.
  • Develop an annual plan covering major new product development projects, development process enhancements, staffing needs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain relationships with Quality and Manufacturing teams to provide manufacturing-process input and enable smooth handoff of new products.
  • Execute and control design activities supporting intellectual property, reliability, safety, and performance objectives for controls and equipment.
  • Create and maintain an environment of project and timeline ownership and accountability for team members.
  • Provide thought leadership for the strategic direction of mechanical systems, associated customer interfaces, Internet of Things technologies, and related technologies.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master’s degree in engineering or a Master of Business Administration is preferred.
  • Experience in the capital goods or food service equipment industry is preferred.
