About the job
- A bachelor's degree in biological sciences is required.
- At least 5 years of experience focused on the biotechnology or pharmaceutical sector is required, although MD/PhD candidates seeking a career switch may be considered with fewer than 5 years of experience.
- Ability to operate independently on strategic and tactical tasks and clearly articulate the process involved.
- Investor mindset and deep experience producing research notes.
- Strong understanding of biological sciences.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated tenacity in conducting detailed research and presenting findings.
- New York-based availability and willingness to travel approximately 15%.
- Source and maintain a pipeline of novel drug development ideas for NewCos within assigned therapeutic areas.
- Conduct proprietary research analyzing assets across science, disease, commercial, intellectual property, chemistry, manufacturing and controls, clinical development, regulatory, and valuation areas.
- Write, pitch, and maintain investment notes for company ideas.
- Build pitch decks including recommended deal terms, clinical development, and financing.
- Develop expertise within assigned therapeutic areas.
- Attend relevant medical, banking, and partnering conferences.
- Convert ideas into NewCos with successful profit and loss performance.
- An advanced degree, specifically an MD or PhD, is strongly preferred.
- At least 5 years of biotechnology or pharmaceutical sector experience in a buy-side role is preferred.
- Relevant academic or industry experience in the life sciences is preferred.
