Requirements

  • Strong fundamentals in signal processing, communication theory, orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing systems, radio architectures, and analog/radio-frequency impairments are required, including understanding their impact on key system performance metrics.
Responsibilities
  • Drive bring-up, integration, and performance optimization of Wi-Fi physical-layer and radio systems for both pre-silicon and post-silicon stages.
  • Develop and integrate physical-layer features and calibration algorithms such as transmit power control, automatic gain control, transmitter signal strength indication, received signal strength indication, and interference mitigation.
  • Debug and root-cause system performance issues across radio-frequency domains, including impairments, calibration, and gain control, and digital physical-layer processing, including orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing, synchronization, channel estimation, and multiple-input multiple-output processing.
  • Collaborate closely with physical-layer system algorithm engineers, radio, radio-frequency integrated circuit, medium access control, and digital circuit designers to ensure end-to-end feature integration.
  • Support the transition from lab bring-up to robust firmware integration and product readiness.
  • Characterize radio-frequency and physical-layer performance and drive resolutions to ensure robust, high-quality product delivery.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and at least 3 years of relevant industry experience are preferred.
  • Experience, knowledge, and skills in wireless system design, integration, bring-up, and debugging of wireless physical-layer and radio-frequency systems on system-on-chip platforms are preferred.
  • A strong understanding of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing and multiple-input multiple-output wireless systems across baseband and radio-frequency domains, with a solid foundation in related communication theory and signal processing, is preferred.
  • A strong understanding of wireless transceiver architectures, radio-frequency front ends, and related system-level tradeoffs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of analog/radio-frequency impairments, including DCOC, IQ imbalance, IP2, LOFT, and digital predistortion, and their calibration flows is preferred.
  • Proficiency with performance metrics such as error vector magnitude and sensitivity, and with impairment-mitigation strategies, is preferred.
  • Experience working across multi-radio coexistence environments is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using and understanding the theory of operation of laboratory equipment such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and power meters is preferred.
  • Experience with at least one of MATLAB, Python, shell scripting, or C/C++ is preferred.
  • Experience with automation infrastructure development, including traceability, repeatability, Git, continuous integration, databases, and reporting tools, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of wireless communication protocols, including 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be, LTE/WCDMA/GSM, or 802.11ad/ay, is preferred.
  • An advanced degree, such as a Master of Science or Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or another technical discipline, is preferred.

Morgan Stanley sets $360 Apple target on AI innovation and 690M upgrade opportunity

Morgan Stanley analyst Erik Woodring has maintained an overweight rating on Apple with a $360 price target, citing accelerated innovation at the company's September product event. The analyst highlighted Apple's first foldable iPhone, new A20 chips, and enhanced Siri capabilities as signs of stronger momentum under new CEO John Ternus, who recently replaced Tim Cook. Woodring noted that 57% of Apple's installed base—roughly 690 million devices—runs phones older than the iPhone 15 Pro, whilst 87% cannot handle complex Siri AI workloads. With consumers keeping iPhones for over four years, this creates significant upgrade potential. Apple recently reported strong fiscal third-quarter results with revenue of $109.4 billion, up 16% year-over-year, and earnings per share of $2.02, up 29%.

Bank of America cuts Apple price target to $370 after iPhone Duo foldable launch

Bank of America cut its Apple price target to $370 from $380 whilst maintaining a Buy rating, following the iPhone Duo launch under new CEO John Ternus. Analyst Wamsi Mohan cited lower-than-expected iPhone pricing pressuring gross margins amid elevated component costs. The iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable phone, features a 7.6-inch inner display and 5.4-inch outer display, both supporting Dynamic Island and 120Hz ProMotion. Starting at $1,999, it launches 23 October with pre-orders opening 16 October. Mohan called the foldable the event's standout, noting its potential to reach mainstream audiences through features like dual capture in FaceTime. Citi described it as Apple's biggest new hardware category since the Watch and AirPods.

Apple Watch can record 15 seconds of conversation without both speakers' consent

Apple's new Watch Series 12 features Audio Intelligence capabilities that can record conversations without consent from all parties. The Live Rewind function captures 15 seconds of conversation and converts it to text after the wearer double-presses the Digital Crown. Whilst the watch emits an audible tone to alert nearby people, this doesn't constitute legal consent in 11 US states requiring all-party consent for recordings. The watch processes audio through its S11 chip and nearby iPhone, discarding the original recording after creating text. Siri Recap summarises conversations throughout the day without retaining audio or identifying speakers. The Electronic Frontier Foundation criticised the feature, arguing people lack practical means to consent or decline recording. EFF's Adam Schwartz warned the technology threatens conversational privacy and spontaneity, urging users to reconsider using it out of respect for others.

AT&T CEO dismisses $2K Apple iPhone Duo as 'not new', doubts foldable will break niche status

AT&T CEO John Stankey expressed scepticism about Apple's newly unveiled foldable iPhone Duo, priced at $1,999. Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia and Technology Conference, Stankey said the device is "not new", noting that Android manufacturers like Samsung and Google have sold foldables for years without broad market success. "What we've seen is that it tends to function more as a specific niche type application as opposed to [being] broadly accepted," Stankey said. He acknowledged Apple could prove him wrong but doubted it would change market dynamics significantly. IDC analyst Francisco Jeronimo estimates foldables represent only about 2.2% of global smartphone sales in 2026. Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 retails for $1,899.

Apple's foldable iPhone Duo starts at $1,999, but will shoppers actually buy it?

Apple unveiled its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, priced from $1,999 to $3,199. The device features a 7.6-inch inner display and 5.4-inch outer screen, allowing users to run two apps simultaneously. The Duo costs $800 more than Apple's new iPhone 18 Pro. CEO John Ternus called it "the most transformational change to iPhone since the original". Whilst Samsung, Huawei, Google, and Motorola already sell foldables, these devices remain niche. IDC expects global foldable shipments to reach 22.9 million units in 2026, representing just over 2% of the smartphone market. However, analysts believe Apple's entry could shift the landscape. IDC forecasts Apple will ship over 17 million foldable iPhones by 2027, capturing roughly 40% of the global foldables market. The company's large customer base may drive broader adoption of the expensive new format.
